Has anyone ever offered you to build a better web browser? That’s what we do at Station.
Sounds crazy? Here’s how we came up with the idea:
We got really frustrated using the web browser at work. We spend our whole day in it and, for the most part, it sucks: 50+ tabs mixing up in a cluttered interface, the fatigue of continuously switching contexts to look for a piece of information…
There must be a better way and we set out on a journey to find it. We started from a blank page and, brick after brick, we’ve built Station: a working environment directly inspired by today’s new ways of working.

So far, so good
Since we started, I have to admit the journey has been a lot of fun: it’s an unexplored world full of possibilities! We explored, dreamt, experimented, released, failed (sometimes), re-released, enjoyed.. and so on for 1 year.
Ultimately, our users are delighted: we went from 10 to 5000+ users using Station every day at work (5 hours per day on average). We are now #1 product of the year 2017 on Product Hunt and we’ve built a community of users with whom we work, day in day out, on the evolution of the product.
That’s very rewarding from a builder point-of-view!
So we continue🚶
But that’s only the beginning of the journey.
We envision Station as an operating system for SaaS applications. It means that we want to push the interface experience further for our users, integrate perfectly with every SaaS application, open the platform to developers, help companies manage their stack of SaaS applications, etc.
Our goal is to put Station in the hands of the 10+ million working people around the world!
We are based in Paris, but starting January, the whole team is temporarily moving to San Francisco for 3 months for the YCombinator program. Close to our eco-system of users, partners and advisors, we’ll build the kick-ass product of our dreams, the kind users will love!
At this point, I guess the idea still sounds crazy, but I can bet it sounds attractive too, right? 😇 That’s great because we’re looking for fellow builders to join us on this ambitious journey.
Engineering
From a technical point of view, Station is a very atypical and challenging product. The most tricky part is Electron that we are pushing to its limits. We are regularly throwing Electron Meetups in Paris to stay in touch with the community. We also work with ReactJS, Redux and a classic NodeJs stack.
We have very exciting projects for the next few months like the API, the Station extension SDK or our apps registry that’ll run on a modified version of the NPM registry architecture.
We are a team of 4 engineers, and given the stakes, we want to share the journey with a 5th engineer who likes the challenge and has experience with Javascript applications.
Product
On the product side, Station is very interesting because, for once, we get the chance to define the playground in which other applications will evolve — and not the opposite. Defining the identity, interface and interactions of a product inside which users spend their entire working days is a fantastic opportunity. That’s also a great responsibility: every hitch can become a real pain.
That’s why we want to meet with excellent UI and UX designers who’d be interested in being part of this adventure.
