I arrived in Athens in May 2022 with one goal in mind: to explore the rich history and legacy of ancient Greece firsthand. As I planned my trip, I discovered an Airbnb experience that promised to take me to the Poseidon Temple at the southern tip of Attica — just an hour’s drive south of Athens.

Excited to explore this ancient wonder that has stood for thousands of years, I eagerly booked the tour to Sounion, where the Saronic and the Petalioi gulf waves converge at the Aegean sea.

As I approached Sounion, the stunning coastal views turned into the unforgettable presence of the temple, perched atop a cliff overlooking the sea. It was a humbling sight, reminding me of the immense history and power that the ancient Greeks possessed.
