Toledo: Why You Should Visit This Great Ancient City

In June of 2023 I led a student trip to Spain. One of our stops was the old capital of Spain, Toledo. This was my second time in the city, and the only thing I hate is that both times we only spent a few hours there. We didn’t get a lot of time to explore the city on our own, as our guide explained that there is a concern with pickpockets when there are tour groups.

That being said, there are some great things to see if you find yourself in Toledo. It is a cultural crossroads between Christian, Muslim, and Jewish communities. Once you enter the walls of the great city, you will feel like you have gone back in time. The narrow roads means that there is little car traffic, as the roads were built centuries before cars were invented.

Toledo is nestled in a valley, which allows for a great photo op if you go up one of the hills. You can also get some great souvenirs from the conveniently located stand.
