Gold Fever — The Game

Pacifism has no place in the Gold Fever universe. As players are thrown into the unforgiving jungle, only the bravest and most violent ones can succeed in the everlasting quest for survival. Will you succumb to fear, or will you thrive in the height of battle?

Although cooperation between factions is a vital component of the game, you’ll still need to avoid being killed by rivaling factions and other wild animals such as crocodiles, wild boars, and poisonous snakes.

To better protect yourself against the many dangers awaiting you, we’ve decided to make this in-game series about combat, specifically the Player vs. Player (PvP) encounters.

Keep in mind that PvP is still a rare occurrence at this stage due to the enormous scale of the map and small player base.

This article will cover the starting weapons and other mechanics that will help you have an edge on the battlefield.

Choosing a class

Choosing the appropriate class is vital to succeeding in combat. The hunter from the Adventurer faction and the warrior from the Tribals are the go-to classes if you want to master the art of war.

Although other classes can participate in combat, their perks and stats are not ideal. The focus behind other classes includes aspects like healing, scavenging, foraging, or boosting stats through spells and items.

Picking your weapon of choice

Gold Fever offers a wide range of weaponry to satisfy the most sadistic players. There are spears, axes, swords, daggers, shields, bows, and several firearms. We will not be covering every weapon available, but only the ones you start out with:

Long Primitive Bow

+60 shooting rate

+25 damage

+350% critical rate

+5000 shooting range

Both the Tribal and Adventurers start with the bow. An excellent alternative to firearms, the bow is a versatile and stealthy weapon that can be used in combination with different types of arrows. Tribals can use custom poison, stun, and fire arrows that induce different types of additional damage and crowd control.

The bone knife (Tribals)

+30 damage

+220 attack range

Basic metal knives (Adventurers)

+ 18 damage

+ 200 attack range

Knives are a big component of combat and, although not ideal, can be used to gather resources like wood. At the same time, Adventurers start with three different knives. Tribals begin with the bone knife, which has stronger stats. Knives are the undisputed ruler of short-range combat and can be used to block attacks from enemies or to execute enemies from the tops of the trees.

Throw spear (Tribals)

+60 shooting rate

+25 damage

+350% critical rate

+5000 shooting range

Another of the starting weapons of the tribals, the spear, is useful for both long-range and close-quarters combat. Although it has the same initial stats as the bow, it’s a little faster to shoot.

Tommy gun (Adventurers)

+18 damage

+2500 damage

60 bullet charges

Revolver (Adventurers)

+20 damage

+150% critical damage

+240 shooting rate

+2500 Shooting range

Lastly, we have firearms. Although there are shotguns and long rifles, Adventurers begin with a plain revolver and the Tommy gun, the iconic weapon of the old American mafia. The Tommy gun is ideal for close combat against groups of enemies, while the revolver is slower but more accurate at long-range.

Combat mechanics

Players can assume a crouched or prone position, facilitating shooting and helping remain hidden. Traps can also be placed on the ground, either for defense or in preparation for ambushes, and you can recruit a dog companion to help you during fights.

Another vital element of the game is weapon durability. Weapons will start deteriorating with use, rendering them useless after some time. Players will need to repurchase, craft, or repair weapons to maintain them in perfect condition.

And finally, we have the healing component. The first aid kits heal instantaneously but are more expensive. On the other hand, food and beverages are easier to come by but heal over time, making them less ideal for combat. The Tribal class of the sorcerers can also heal, provide bonus stats, blessings, or cure poison and illnesses.
