Players have long requested rewards for engaging in combat in Adventure mode, and this “PvP Faction” is finally here — The Reaper’s Bones! These scallywags at The Reaper’s Hideout live for the “true” pirate life- and to them that means stealing treasure and sinking ships. You can increase your reputation with them like a regular company, but you’ll need to deliver treasure to the hotly contested Reaper’s Hideout (especially stolen treasure), and deliver the Flags you get from sinking Trading Company Emissaries. You can even sail as an Emissary for the Reaper’s Bones, which brings with it increased rewards but higher risks.

Tenets of the Reaper’s Bones

There is no honour among thieves, only prizes for the taking!
A pirate’s life is to plunder! Chests, skulls, cargo — anything your foes are too weak to protect! We will pay for any trifles scavenged on your travels, but you’ll get our attention as an Emissary faster if you take your prizes from unwary pirates!

What is The Reaper’s Bones?

The Reaper’s Bones are a recently formed Trading Company, with their headquarters found on the aptly named The Reaper’s Hideout. This island near the center of the map has undergone a radical change in architecture and landscape since their arrival, as if cursed by some dark magic.

Although they have Emissary Tables at all Outposts, only their Hideout has a member you can deliver loot to — The Servant of the Flame.

How do I Rank Up The Reaper’s Bones?

Any loot that is given to The Servant of the Flame at the Reaper’s Hideout will increase your Rank with them, which of course means you may run into other crews that will try to head you off at the Hideout or even camp the location. Stolen Loot is worth much more than regular loot, but the most valuable item to the Reaper’s Bones are Emissary Flags, which drop when you sink a ship that is a trading company Emissary. You get nothing for sinking non-Emissary ships though (except for perhaps stolen loot).

You can even sail as an Emissary of the Reaper’s Bones, which allows you to increase your “Emissary Grade” in session and add a multiplier to the loot you earn for that company. You can read more about being a Trading Company Emissary here, and we’ll talk more about Reaper’s Bones emissaries down below.

Commendations and Rewards of The Reaper’s Bones

This new company comes with a bevvy of new commendations to unlock, and rewards to earn through leveling your reputation.

There are commendations for:

  • Selling loot from the other trading companies at the Reaper’s Hideout, including Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance, and Athena’s Fortune loot items.
  • Selling Reaper’s Chests and Reaper’s Bounties to the Reaper’s Hideout.
  • Selling plundered Emissary Flags from each company, and selling plundered Rank 5 Emissary Flags from each company.
  • Becoming a Reaper’s Bones Emissary, Earning Ranks 2/3/4/5 as an Emissary, selling any loot as an Emissary, and representing the company as a crew by wearing the Reaper’s Bones company outfit and dressing your ship in full Reaper’s Bones ship cosmetics

Of course, there’s Rewards too. At every interval of 5 Reputation Ranks, you’ll earn increasingly more prestigious versions of the Reaper Cannons and Reaper Figurehead, and eventually the other parts of the Reaper Ship Set. You can level the Reaper’s Bones company all the way to Rank 75.

Emissary of The Reaper’s Bones

For a complete guide on Trading Company Emissaries, click here. Below are some details specific to the Reaper’s Bones Emissaries:

Unlike the other Trading Companies, there is no minimum reputation Rank required to buy the Emissary Flag for The Reaper’s Bones (which costs 20,000 Gold). If you own the Flag you can purchase The Reaper’s Bone Costume for 69,300 Gold. (Wearing this outfit is entirely optional if you wish to role-play as a member of The Reaper’s Bones). Once one of your crew mates owns the Reaper’s Bones Emissary Flag, the crew can vote to raise it at the Reaper’s Bones Table at any outpost.

  • Sailing as a trading company Emissary allows you to increase your crew’s Emissary Grade each session from 1 up to 5, and the higher your grade, the more reputation and gold you’ll earn for your loot! Think of it like earning a “multiplier”.
  • There is a catch: every Emissary of the Reaper’s Bones becomes afflicted with The Reaper’s Mark, which makes your ship and grade visible on every other ship’s map table. If you want to benefit from multiplying your rewards, you basically announce your intentions to the world and they can choose to run from you or fight back.
  • If you reach Grade 5 as a Reaper’s Bones Emissary, you gain the power to see every OTHER Emissary on YOUR map table. Guess the map tables are turned!
  • You can increase your Emissary Grade each session by grabbing loot (especially stolen loot), killing other players, and stealing Emissary Flags off of ships that sink. Remember: any time YOU sink, you lose your Emissary Grade and become a regular ship again, with no multiplier. You can begin anew at any outpost by voting again to become an Emissary.
  • Watch out for other Reaper’s Bones Emissaries: you can still profit from killing each other, and may be fighting over other player ships/“prey” as well. If they’re sinking your valuable Emissaries, they’ll have to go — this sea’s not big enough for the both of ya!
  • The Emissary Voting Tables on every outpost show small wooden ships that signify real ships on your server representing that company. Use this knowledge to your advantage when hunting down other Emissaries!
  • Finally, before you log off the game or choose to switch to a different company Emissary, you can vote to “take down” your flag at the Reaper’s Bones Emissary Table. Doing this earns you Reputation and Gold, rewarding you for ending your journey without being sunk!

Where are The Reaper’s Bones Emissary Tables?

On each Outpost there is a hidden away Emissary Table dedicated to The Reaper’s Bones, which you’ll recognize by its unsettling ambiance.

  • Ancient Spire Outpost: on the ramp overlooking the pier
  • Plunder Outpost: hidden among the bushes by the beach looking toward the main pier
  • Galleon’s Grave Outpost: located on the path towards the Weapon Shop
  • Daggertooth Outpost: against the rock face beneath the Order of Souls/Pirate Emporium building.
  • Sanctuary Outpost: Against the rock next to the Order of Souls/Pirate Emporium building facing towards the main pier
  • Golden Sands Outpost: Opposite the Weapon Shop
  • Morrow’s Peak Outpost: beside the Equipment Shop as you go towards the Charred Parrot Tavern

There you have it! The Reaper’s Bones are a long-awaited “PvP Faction” that rewards stealing treasure and sinking ships, but you’ll have to take your earnings to the central Reaper’s Hideout (easier said than done). You can multiply your reputation and gold gains by sailing as an Emissary, but Reaper’s Bones Emissaries always fly the “Reaper’s Mark”, announcing your location to the entire server. If you’re a true pirate cutthroat, you’ll be up to the task!
