It brings with it the risk/reward “Emissary System” that shakes up the expanded progression of the Trading Companies, a new PvP focused trading company called The Reaper’s Bones, monthly “Ledgers” that act as global leaderboards for each trading company, a complete overhaul to The Arena competitive mode, and much more! Read on for a full break down of all the important new features.

Trading Company “Emissaries”

A new way to play! With the Emissary system pirates can become “representatives” of the various Trading Companies, and in doing so will be able to earn a session-based multiplier to the loot they sell to those companies. This’ll come in handy, as the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant Alliance have each expanded their progression cap to Rank 75, and Athena’s Fortune has expanded to Rank 20! Each company is even tracking month long Ledgers, acting as global leader boards that you can climb to earn new sails and titles!

With greater reward comes greater risk though, as you’ll be hoarding loot for longer and broadcasting to every passing ship that you are one of these lucrative loot-laden emissaries. There’s even a new Trading Company called the Reaper’s Bones that pose a great threat to other company emissaries…

The Reaper’s Bones Trading Company

A new Trading Company has developed on the Reaper’s Hideout near the center of the map. They reward you for delivering loot, but are particularly fond of stolen loot and will even reward you for sinking Emissary ships and delivering their ship’s Flag- that’s right, this is a long awaited “PvP faction” of sorts!

You can even sail as an Emissary of the Reaper’s Bones, allowing you too to apply multipliers to the loot you gain from plundering unsuspecting prey- but you’ll be flying the Reaper’s Mark, making your intentions quite clear to those around you!

The Arena: The Next Chapter

A significant overhaul has come to The Arena mode! This separate timed-competitive-match mode has had the pressure turned up, as matches are shorter, Arenas are smaller, and the number of chests (and delivery locations) have been dropped to just one!

Tools Not Rules- Reviving and Crew Cognition

The process by which pirates die and respawn has had a major shakeup!

  • Players can now revive crew-mates or pirates in their alliance who have died in both Adventure and Arena modes. To do this, simply go over to the fallen pirate and a prompt will appear. Alternatively, if no crew mate will arrive in time the fallen player can opt to go straight to the Ferry of the Damned
  • It takes 4 seconds to Revive a pirate. In Adventure Mode, you have a 15 second window before going to the Ferry of the Damned, and in Arena it is 26 seconds! If you wait and are never revived, this waiting time is in addition to time spent on the Ferry of the Damned waiting for respawn
  • Players that are Revived come back with 25% of their health restored
  • Bringing a team mate back could give you an advantage, or maybe backfire- you’ll be vulnerable while Reviving them, opening up the chance for a double kill against your crew!

Another new tool at your disposal is Crew Status Cognition:

  • Found in Settings under Gameplay is a toggle for “Crew Status Tags”
  • With the toggle slid to ‘Yes’, your crewmates on screen Gamertags will be visible from a longer distance than usual, allowing you to see where they are more easily
  • In addition, a symbol will now appear next to their Gamertag signifying the action they are performing (carrying treasure, patching holes in the ship, firing the cannons, etc). This is a non-verbal way to see what your crew are doing and better coordinate as a team!

Smoother Sailing

  • Cutlass Buffs- cutlass strikes will now deal 25 damage instead of 20, and lunges will deal 60 damage instead of 50
  • Chests of Rage will now spawn randomly on islands
  • Ashen Guardians and Ashen Key Masters have had a visual face-lift, and now appear with “Ashen skeleton” physical characteristics
  • Tall Tale Markers- a new option that can be toggled off in the settings will display markers on the map table showing where each Tall Tale can be started
