Spoiler Guide to “Legends of the Sea”
Stories and Moments Immortalized For All to Know
On the Lagoon of Whispers, Umbra has started to chronicle deeds of the players who sail the Sea of Thieves, giving greater context and meaning to the certain books, stories, paintings, and touches that can be found on every island. Ever wondered what inspired that painting of Derrick and Merrick? Or do you have a thirst for lore created by player interaction? This new ‘faction’ of sorts is for you then.
Every little Easter Egg tells a story of a real life player and some great feat they accomplished, and Umbra will reward you for discovering each and every one of them. In this guide we will be giving the precise location of each of these hidden Easter Eggs and “Player Immortalisations”, but the fun part is exploring and finding them for yourself. If you don’t want to be spoiled, you’ve been warned!

How does this work?
- The hidden Easter Eggs are grouped into 10 “collections”.
- Discovering each one earns 5 Douboons, and discovering an entire collection earns a bonus 25 Doubloons and unlocks a new Tattoo in Umbra’s Shop (which cost 12,150 Gold each)
- Umbra also has a side quest to discover her 10 Journals. These are another 5 Doubloons a piece, with another 25 Doubloons after discovering them all.
- If you discover all 10 collections of Easter Eggs AND Umbra’s journals, you’ll earn 50 Doubloons and the Chronicler of Legend Title.
- You can view the list of Easter Eggs in the “Legends of the Sea” tab of the Bilge Rats Reputation menu. Each has a description of where they’re located and on which island.
- A few Easter Eggs are Shop Cosmetics. To “discover” these, you need to purchase this cosmetic, equip it, and show it to Umbra on Lagoon of Whispers (with her “I have something to show you!” dialogue option)
Cheat Sheet
The collections are grouped thematically, but the actual locations aren’t grouped by proximity. For example, some islands have 4 or more Easter Eggs on them which aren’t all in the same collection- that means if you go through the list one by one, you’ll do a lot of back tracking and unnecessary sailing. Check out our Cheat Sheet below so you see which islands have multiple items on them:
Umbra’s Observations
Find Umbra on Lagoon of Whispers to find out about her mission, and then travel the map discovering her journals for details on in game lore.

Devil’s Ridge- on a rock outcropping looking South-East

Crescent Isle- on the southern portion of the island, near the entrance to the cave and inside a wooden barrel

The Devil’s Thirst- on the Eastern side of the island, inside the wreck among some supplies

Pirate Legend Hideout- on a bookshelf next to the shark jaws in the main tavern area, behind the ghostly musicians

Hidden Spring Keep- on the wooden tower structure on the south-west of the island

Shipwreck Bay- inside the Captain’s Quarters of the Blackwyche, hidden among the debris by a chair

The Sea’s Most Wanted Collection
— The Fox in the Snake —
Dagger Tooth Outpost- In the Tavern. To the left of the Teri, the barkeep, there is a wanted poster reading ‘BEWARE Fizzy Foxy The Notorious Pirate Killer’
— Missing, Presumed Pirating —
Lone Cove- South of the central rock, inspect the Wanted poster on the wooden structure
— Self-Promoting Pistol Pirate —
Dagger Tooth Outpost- On the water tower inspect the Wanted poster
— Join the Club —
Mermaid’s Hideaway- On the southern highest point is a small wooden structure. Near to the Ammo Crate is a Wanted poster facing outward that reads ‘Join Zoreams Pirate Club’
— Nice to be Wanted —
Wanderer’s Refuge- Among the ruins of the buildings on the central part of the island. It’s on a plank of wood just around from where an Ammo Crate is. The Wanted poster reads ‘Wanted Du My 2008, For… Positive Contributions’
The Daredevils Collection
— Sleeping With the Fishes —
Mermaid’s Hideaway- along the eastern beach. Look for a skeleton reaching out to a rock, with a Gamertag etched into that rock ‘Archangel Aeon’
— Aim High —
Plunder Outpost- find a charred skeleton resting on a high rock to the right of the Skeleton Throne
— …And Not a Drop Spilled —
Ancient Spire Outpost- Above the door-frame as you enter the Tavern
— Not All Falcons Fly —
Shipwreck Bay- Near the wreck of the Blackwyche ship (pretty much under the bow of the ship) are a pair of skeletal legs sticking out of the ground, with a Gamertag inscribed on the rock above them
— Run Aground —
Salty Sands- On the Southern island is a cave painting on a rock of a ship attached to a Megalodon, inspect this
The Lovable Rogues Collection
— Not Just for Sweeping —
Sanctuary Outpost- Inspect the Tavern sign above the entrance to the Tavern ‘George and the Kraken’
— Bound by a Book —
Smuggler’s Bay- inside the cave. Find the book surrounded by green candlelight near the back of the cave
— Snake Charmer —
Snake Island- Inspect the Snake Cage by the Snake Statue on the central island
— Dog Days —
Mermaid’s Hideaway- Inspect the signpost that reads ‘Tay Doge Swift’ near to Five Paces Frank’s campsite
— Pirate Port Pals —
Golden Sands Outpost- Just outside the Tavern is a table with two Tankards on, inspect them for the commendation
The Insatiable Collection
— Death by Banana —
Marauder’s Arch- near the north-eastern beach is a skeleton covered with bananas with ‘Griffin’ etched above it on the rock face
— ZZ Marks the Spot —
Plunder Outpost- In the Tavern. Inspect the plaque to the left of Tanya, it has “ZZ DE TOX ZZ DRINKING SPOT” written on it
— Going Bananas —
Sanctuary Outpost- Southwest from the Watertower is a Banana Barrel with ‘FreakyDusty’ written on it
— Famously Frugal —
Lost Gold Fort- Inside the main fort structure, look for a note attached to one of the supporting beams
— A Hairy Legacy —
Speak to Umbra whilst you have the ‘Legacy Beard’ cosmetic equipped (Select the “I have something to show you!” dialogue option). You can purchase this item in the Clothing Shop on any Outpost.
The Swashbucklers Collection
— Wide of the Mark —
Smuggler’s Bay- on the eastern side of the mountain ridge is assembled wooden boards with a gamertag and bullet markings and a target flanked by two torchlights
— Precision Pirating —
Galleon’s Grave Outpost- Outside the Weaponsmith’s Shop Inspect the hanging Target Board with the name ‘Cacci’ engraved
— Legendary Larceny —
Smuggler’s Bay- South-west beach, on the inside of the bay, find the insignia for ‘De4th Hook’ on a rock
— Buckets of Fun —
Sanctuary Outpost- by the Shipwright. Look for the bucket on the outside of the wooden beam
— A Venomous Attack —
Shark Fin Camp- On the eastern side there is an engraving of snakes attacking a skeleton as part of the wooden gate structure
The Artistic Souls Collection
— A Musical Family —
Ancient Spire Outpost- Found in the Tool Shop. Inspect the Violin in the far corner of the shop
— Still Life —
Sanctuary Outpost- Inside the tavern, find the portrait of a kraken on the wall
— Dressed to Impress —
Ancient Spire Outpost- In the tavern, look for the picture on the wall.
— Through the Eyes of a Child —
Smuggler’s Bay- at the campsite outside the cave is a drawing on bench
— Pirates in Portrait —
Sailor’s Bounty- On the south of the main island is a campsite, under a canopy, is a set of four paintings
The Piratical Jokers Collection
— Merrick Roll —
The Reaper’s Hideout- Read the Journal on the Eastern Island in the makeshift tent
— Killer Qualifications —
Golden Sands Outpost- Inspect the note by the fireplace in the Tavern
— Dances with Chickens —
Chicken Isle- find a rock to the north-west with a cave painting on it
— Familial Resemblances —
Shark Bait Cove- at Merrick’s old camp. Inspect the portrait of Derrick and Merrick
— Purply Pretty —
Speak to Umbra whilst the Amethyst Angel Hair cosmetic is equipped (Select the “I have something to show you!” dialogue option). You can purchase this item in the Clothing Shop on any Outpost.
The Pirate Scribes Collection
— One Cross Pirate —
Sanctuary Outpost- On the small island to the east is a mailbag filled with letters, it’s somewhat hidden in the wooden structure
— Points of Contention —
Golden Sands Outpost- At the foot of the water tower is a skeleton with a long roll of parchment and quill in hand
— Helping Hands —
Cannon Cove- from dock go forward until you hit the first rock face. It’s quite hard to make it, but there are names/gamertags inscribed on that rock
— See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil —
Sanctuary Outpost- Inside the tavern, next to the fireplace, is a flag with three monkey heads on it
— Scruffy Scribe —
Shark Bait Cove- In the northern cave near the Shark Shrine is a book titled “Scruffy Book”, read this for the commendation
The Gift Givers Collection
— Delicious Delivery —
Morrow’s Peak Outpost- Inspect the box on the dock near to the Merchant Alliance person. It has “To Elena, From Dominik” written on it
— May Contain Boom —
Golden Sands Outpost- Behind the Weaponsmith’s Shop. Can be easily spotted by the charred remains of a Gunpowder Barrel and a signpost reading ‘Pirate Legend Jackies Boombox’
— Big Love in a Small Package —
Galleon’s Grave Outpost- At the Merchant Alliance Representative at the dock. Inspect the package with a hat resting next to it
— Putting the Ship in Friendship —
The Finest Trading Post- inspect the model of a ship beside Rachel
— Charitable Pirating —
Speak to Umbra with the Stream Sailor makeup cosmetic equipped (Select the “I have something to show you!” dialogue option). You can purchase this item in the Clothing Shop on any Outpost.
The Early Settlers Collection
— Who’s A Good Boy? —
Galleon’s Grave Outpost- At the wrecked galleon atop the outpost is a dog bowl with two bones in it, inspect this for the commendation
— Fool’s Gold —
Cannon Cove- inside the cave is a barrel with a dagger sticking out of the top of it. Inspect the name etched here “The Aaron Leigh”
— Nesting Spot —
The Crow’s Nest Fortress- fire yourself to the highest platform of the tower that rises from the fort structure and look for the logo of ‘The Crow’s Nest’
— Hallowed Ground —
Ferry of the Damned- Inspect the engraving of a Gamertag on the right statue by the Door
— Pirate Leg End —
Speak to Umbra whilst you have the ‘Sea Dog Peg Leg’ equipped (Select the “I have something to show you!” dialogue option). You can purchase this item in the Clothing Shop on any Outpost.
