In our previous scaling article, we discussed how we are improvising and adapting to the current situation. How we could scale even better with the use of Semantic content & UX enhancements. Since then, we have achieved a great milestone on our way to provide hassle-free car services to everyone out there.

Lessons learned on the journey to Million Installs Club

  • Fail fast, learn faster — You might stumble along the way but never back down from a challenge. Experiment and iterate fast.
  • Study human behaviour — You’re designing a mobile app for people, so to understand people better — learn what YOU would want from an App & what actually makes us tick.
  • Haters gonna hate, lovers gonna love — People will love you and people will hate you, be prepared. Make something you’re proud of or make something that makes so much money you don’t care.
  • Make brainstorming sessions a frequent habit — Keep an excel sheet ready and have reoccurring sessions where you brainstorm on future ideas. Train your mind to think big and make associations you wouldn’t usually make.
  • App store optimization — Make sure you know how to get the most out of your keywords and app title. This will make your app stand out in the Google Play/Appstore search results. This can make the difference between 10 installs per day & 1000. You can run experiments on different headline & short description version and then keep one which finally delivered the best results.
  • Your app will crash — Don’t panic, you learn more from failures than success. Just be prepared to fix the issue before you get a bunch of bad reviews.
  • Time is Power. Be Persistent and Persevere — Simply, never give up. There will be many times when it seems as if nothing is working, everything is too broken to be fixed, or things are too difficult. Don’t stop trying, in time you’ll make it to the finish line.

OBD (On-Board Diagnostics)

OBD or On-Board Diagnostics is a revolutionary feature that allows a vehicle to diagnose and report faults codes. So, whenever a malfunction is detected, a DTC (Diagnostics Trouble Codes) is generated in the OBD subsystem.

A mechanic; using an OBD scanner checks these fault codes and pin-points the root cause of the problem. It’ll provide you insights of your car such as emissions, performance, fuel economy, ECU status and provides troubleshooting capability for the vehicle.

  • A customer’s convenience has always been our primary impetus while working on the App. Post this feature, we saw a 20–30% increase in the Fulfillment of orders which were to be expected since it gives the user a window to confirm the service choices.
  • Users can now select their preferred Date and Time slots for Car Pick-Up before placing an order, giving even more depth to our hassle-free car services moto.
  • Slots can also be turned off by Ops and the user can decide whether to go for it or not.

Healthcard

It was a dream 3 years back at GoMechanic.in to create a predictive diagnostic system for our customers, where they would be informed about problems in their cars based on the data collected by us or collected by an OBD.

During the Lockdown — our Analytics, Operations Tech, and Marketing Tech team came together to create a system collecting and storing 80 data points for every car repaired with us, run algorithms designed for different Car Systems, to predict future wear and tear and trigger notifications and project data on our App and Website to inform the customers.

We believe this would be an amazing upgrade in the journey of our customers, and a beautiful step in our attempt to educate our customers and also bring them closer to understanding their machines.

Automated Chat System

We launched our first version of 24x7 automated chat connected with our operations for real-time grievance redressal on the Service App. Users can now enjoy excellent customer service with extra support and attention to our mobile app. It also reduces human intervention and gives the user instant gratification. For the desktop user, we have implemented our support functionality on the order tracking page

Our goal has always been to expand our user reach and all thanks to our data-driven strategy of reaching out to places that show potential, we decided to launch our Services in 5 more cities. Our latest additions include Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Surat.

Pollution in the Air? Forgot the bring up your charger? Did tyre get deflated while travelling? We often ask ourselves every day what problems can a person face while driving and travelling to various places. And since our vision has always been to provide hassle-free car services to ensure smooth travels, we launched our Accessories on our App to make sure that YOU don’t have to go through any of the above-mentioned difficulties.

We now have Stereos Live on our Mobile App. We have rolled out this feature in Gurgaon as of now.

On the occasion of the 74th Independence Day, we launched our Freedom Sale campaign from 12th Aug-15th Aug with up to 30% Off on all services, “CARZAADI FREEDOM SALE”.

We also introduced two customised packages: “Monsoon Protect Shield” and “Covid-19 Revival Package” which has all the combination of services recommended during monsoon season and especially the services which Car requires post Lockdown.

Ensuring safety of employees, partners and customers, we have made it mandatory for all the employees to use masks, gloves and sanitizers in order to keep a check on the spread of covid-19.
Our internal apps detect masks and once it verifies it then only one can proceed with any pickup.

Influencer Marketing was a whole new challenge for our marketing team due to these unprecedented times. The shoots were tougher, the scripts were different but we knew we had to do something about it. So, to put the paddle on the gas we had to make sure that everything we do — should make a difference. Be it brand penetration or generating sales alone.

  • Rannvijay Singh: Our Biggest Celebrity Influencer & it was a joy for the team with him. Not only he understood what we do & what our brand means to us, but he was also able to relate all the hassles which anyone could go through when it comes to car servicing. All-in-all a great experience & a big thumbs up for the team.
  • Mirzapur: With all the Bhaukal vibes right around the corner, it was time to shift our focus a bit from the pandemic to the entertainment section. Before the Mirzapur Season 2 had released officially on Amazon Prime, the team managed to pull-off a co-branding campaign with the Mirzapur Team & it was definitely a joy to watch!
  • Exclusive Day Sale — Tuesday & Wednesday

We launched new marketing campaigns with discounts offerings of Flat 10% + ₹100 OFF on Car Services on Tuesdays & Wednesdays with the vision of pepping up the demand on the mentioned days.

  • Google Reserve: Reserve with Google aims to connect Google users with businesses through prominent Google products like Maps, Assistance & Search. An ongoing project with which a user would be able to book our services right through google without any hassles.

Moving forward we hope to provide our services in the same fashion we did during the pandemic and scale through our product by discrete retrospection done by an ebullient team, launching more categories and becoming India’s most trusted one-stop automobile aftercare & accessories brand.
