Certification — How to Prepare for Google Cloud — Professional Cloud Database Engineer
About me — I am multi-cloud certified Cloud Architect; current work assignments are focused on Google Cloud platform. Past 18 months I wrote 17+ cloud certification and recently passed GCP — Professional Cloud Database Engineer certification.
Target audience for this exam?
The Google Cloud Professional Database Engineer certification is suitable for database professionals who have experience working with database systems and want to demonstrate their skills in designing, building, and maintaining database systems in the cloud using Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This certification is intended for individuals who have at least one year of experience working with database systems and a solid understanding of database design and implementation, including data modeling, index design, and query optimization.

- Providing technical support and troubleshooting for database issues
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design appropriate database solutions
- Staying up-to-date with new developments and best practices in database design and optimization
Overall, as a Google Cloud Professional Cloud Database Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the database systems that support business applications in the cloud. Step# 1 To prepare for the exam, you should familiarize yourself with the exam content and objectives, which are outlined in the official exam guide here — https://cloud.google.com/certification/guides/cloud-database-engineer/
Official sample exam can be taken here — Professional Cloud Database Engineer Sample Questions. It can be attempted multiple times as sample questions remain same.
If more than 60% answers are correct at first attempt, skip to Step# 2.2 and if 80% answers are correct skip to Step# 2.3

Step# 3 — Practicing the practice test
Practice tests from Udemy — Dan Sullivan’s database course on Udemy also contains 1 set of 50 questions practice tests and it is much relevant from exam perspective — Google Cloud Professional Database Engineer Exam Prep | Udemy
Step# 4 — Scheduling the exam
I had good knowledge of most database services available on GCP and also learnt it while preparing for Professional Data Engineer exam back in May 2022 when databases were also part of the exam.
After preparing for less than 10 days, I scheduled the exam for 24th December 2022 and took remote proctored at 06:00 AM.
For this certification I suggest schedule your exam after spending at least 2 months of learning, when fully confident and consistently scoring more than 80% in practice test.
