Using GCP there’s a checklist for that!
Xmas is coming up fast and for your delectation I’m going to post a series of short posts in the run up . Each post is basically a checklist of things you need to evaluate & prepare for deploying your application to GCP .
I’ll be looking at the following areas :
- Configuring your GCP organisation — Configuring your GCP organisation optimally from the outset reduces friction as you scale and ensures that you have the foundations implemented following best practices
- Securing your resources — Securing your GCP organisation and your applications
- Operational efficiency — Monitoring & alerting, dev and test , DR planning , Organisational culture, communication lines
- Cost optimisation — Moving to the cloud requires understanding how you can optimise your environment for cost and how to understand your bills
- Optimisations for your architecture — Your specific use case may require optimisations or modifications to the more generic guidance provided in the previous sections
From looking at the above categories/areas I created 9 checklists as listed below. I’ll update this page with links to the list of checklists as they are published.
GCP Checklist 1- Configuring your GCP Organisation
GCP Checklist 2 — Securing your GCP resources
GCP Checklist 3 — Capacity planning
GCP Checklist 4 — Application lifecycle management
GCP Checklist 5 — Disaster recovery planning
GCP Checklist 6 — Monitoring and Alerting( maintaining reliability)
GCP Checklist 7 -Support & ongoing operational support
GCP Checklist 8 — Cost Optimisation
GCP Checklist 9 — Optimisations for your application architecture
