A Response to the “Haiku This” Prompt “Hope”
He looks upon me
Like I gazed at my candles
Many birthdays past
My gratitude to Edith Wharton for acting as a pioneer in both her literary career and through her activism in an era where women were not encouraged to lead. Her courageous spirit offers both blueprint and hope.
Inspired by this quote which is a personal favorite from Edith Wharton:
“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”
