HaloFi Development Update: Halfway through 2023 and just heating up 🔥
Hey HaloFi family,
Since our exciting rebrand to HaloFi in the first quarter of 2023, we’ve been pretty quiet on the public updates front. But trust us, it’s not because we’ve been idle! Quite the opposite — the team has been working full speed, tinkering with exciting features and partnerships, all to make your HaloFi experience even more amazing. We’ve got a lot to share, so let’s dive right in!
Recent Updates and Features
First off, we’re excited to share some big changes that have taken place since our rebrand:
- Funds Transfer Simplified: We integrated with Front to make transferring crypto from exchanges like Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, and Robinhood into your own wallet on Polygon a breeze. A smoother start to your HaloFi journey! Try it out here.
- New Valora Integration: You can now track your HaloFi deposits in the Valora mobile wallet. Savings made easy!
- Boosting cUSD Returns: We’ve enabled a profitable yield strategy using Curve Finance on Celo, significantly increasing returns on cUSD savings. Learn more in the blog post:
- New Assets Supported: More ways to play and earn with HaloFi — we’ve added USDT, GoodDollar, and WBTC to our supported assets.
- Pilot Projects in Africa and beyond: We’re excited to share our recent collaborations with impactMarket and GoodDollar, driving financial education and incentivizing savings in Africa. Interestingly, Lagos frequently pops up as the most visited city in our website analytics — hinting at the potential for HaloFi in the continent.
- NFTs & Badges: You’ve asked, and we’ve listened! We’ve started minting badges as NFTs on a recurring schedule. All mintable NFTs are available from your personal user dashboard, powered by Thirdweb.
- Upgraded Infrastructure: We’ve beefed up our backend infrastructure to make HaloFi more scalable, with features like an automatic challenge deployer and an enhanced backend API service.
- UI Enhancements: We’ve made your HaloFi experience smoother with improved gas estimation, clearer error messages, and better transaction handling.
- Smart Contract Updates: We’re continually refining our smart contract codebase, with recent updates including safety checks, event emissions, and a more accurate totalGameInterest calculation.
- Feedback Widget — Shape HaloFi With Us!: We know the journey to financial freedom can have its twists and turns. To make yours smoother, we’ve added a Feedback Widget on our site. What’s Coming Next
But we’re not stopping there! Here are some of the awesome things we’re currently working on:
- New Blockchains: We’re on a mission to make HaloFi more accessible than ever. Get ready to expand your horizons! 🔵 We’re bracing for an exciting onchain summer, as we extend our reach to a new blockchain soon. 😉 Stay tuned!
- Improved User Dashboard: We’re revamping our interface to center around a player’s dashboard, reducing cognitive load and personalizing the HaloFi experience. This update is currently in the final stages of QA and user testing and is expected to go live in the next few weeks.
- Technical Enhancements: We’re working on an indexer service that will improve our dashboard with detailed stats, such as total amount saved, lifetime interest earned, and more. Our team is monitoring the live reconciler component in production and will soon introduce the indexer component. The result? A faster and more intuitive user experience.
Medium-Long Term Goals
Our mission at HaloFi is to inspire everyone, everywhere to start saving and take control of their financial future. We believe in building a world where saving is not only rewarding but also fun and engaging.
As we look further ahead, we have even more in store for you:
- Challenges Page Enhancements: We’re planning to revamp the individual ‘Challenges’ page to make them more engaging, informative and user-friendly.
- Better Onboarding Process: We’re working on tools to simplify onboarding for people new to crypto. Including even better fiat<>crypto integrations and wallet manager tools. Making it even easier for users to join our challenges and start their savings journey.
- Some top secret features! 🤫💬🤫 We’re cooking up something new that aligns perfectly with our mission to democratize access to DeFi. We can’t reveal much yet, but this will be a game-changer.
Other Exciting Stuff
Finally, we want to share some other cool things happening in the HaloFi world. We’re always tinkering around with new ideas while making HaloFi the best it can be. We’ve stepped outside of our comfort zone to explore new avenues. We’re pushing boundaries to refine our offerings and contribute to the overall development of the DeFi space.
Here’s what we’ve explored:
- MoneyBoxes: Picture this. You’re a freelancer. You earn in crypto. But how do you save it? That’s where our hackathon-born prototype, MoneyBoxes, steps in. Built on top of Request Network and Gnosis Safe, it helps freelancers manage and save their crypto earnings more efficiently.
- Zero Sybilness: Born during the ETHGlobal Lisbon hackathon weekend, we came up with a clever system to keep things fair and private when it comes to liquidity mining and token airdrops. Say goodbye to those pesky token farmers!
But rest assured: our main focus remains on refining and enhancing the core HaloFi app. We believe in constant evolution, always aiming to create an even better experience for our community.
