People of RiteTag: Meet Ali Elkhateeb

Entering as a web development intern in 2016, Ali tells us that he was nervous but excited; it was to be his first non-Egyptian, international professional experience. He tells us it is the single reason he started getting recruited for his web development skills and accomplishments.

Ali works closely with our CTO, Michal on RiteForge, RitePush and Rite.ly web applications and browser extensions. He is the man who implemented publishing to Facebook groups, LinkedIn pages and profiles, and Pinterest boards.

Entering as a web development intern in 2016, Ali credits the team and the opportunities to build RiteKit features that he could show for the opportunities that have opened for him. He tells us that his time with us is the single reason he was relocated to Malaysia for a brief contract to in web development. Ali remains with the RiteKit team while also completing his project in Malaysia.

I learned just how refined the web development process is at RiteKit when I went to my next project — Ali Elkhateeb

I sat down with Ali to ask him about his internship, the challenges, learning opportunities, and how to go from intern to a staff position with our team.

Here are a few of the questions Ali answered in our interview

  • What was appealing enough about the RiteKit project that made you consider an unpaid internship with us?
  • Can you tell us about the logic behind learning and setting up the posting schedule for a social profile that a RiteForge user adds?
  • What can you say about the people you worked with, and especially Pavel (Lead Developer), Ahmed (Web Developer) and Michal (CTO)?
  • What did Michal do to ensure that you benefited from your experience with working with us?
  • Tell us about one or two really frustrating or difficult tasks you worked on and how the guys might have helped you get them done.
  • Did you get opportunities to advance in responsibilities within RiteKit?
  • When you interviewed for web development for the gaming company, were you asked about your work at RiteKit?
  • Do you think your experience with us helped you get the new job? If so, why do you think so?
  • The truth is, we all, and especially Saul and Michal, really want you with us long-term. We probably will need to get you over to Prague, but in all truth, are not sure that we will be financially able to do that in ten months. Do you think you will stay with us when the Malaysia contract ends?
  • What advice would you have for someone who wants to start with us, get a huge amount of experience, and leave a lasting mark on RiteKit and something they can show prospective employers for years to come?
  • A lot of people intern with RiteKit but just a few are asked to join the team. Can you give advice to someone who is hoping for a job offer from us at the end of their internship? Tell them what they need to do.

To see what ten of our first interns have to say about the experience and how an internship at RiteKit opened doors for them, see this text post. (Back then we were just RiteTag.) If you’d like to hear what our interns from past years, in PR, web and mobile divisions have to say about the experience and how an internship at RiteTag opened doors — for scholarships and job offers, see the video in this post.

Are you ready to get solid experience on your resume and put your education to a real-world test?

We’re hiring ! Experienced iOS, Android, Web Developers and experienced PR people welcome!
