Stubborn Coward Badger
This is an introspective invitation
To a world with tips for self-destruction
Won’t you come with me or will you stay inside?
Stay blinded by the lights of delusion
I’d call you a stubborn coward badger
Won’t you move from the place you’ve been stuck in?
Do you just cling to that less than one percent?
Might as well surrender, the darkness wins
The dawn’s over the horizon, you’re in the dusk
Staying the same, refusing change, what is new?
You let the shadow of your past take over
The same shadow of what is behind you
The stubborn coward badger is my mind
I keep on waiting for what I left behind

This was a poem I wrote as a sort of wake-up call to myself. I played with the oxymoron of a badger being a coward (because as far as I know, they’re fairly aggressive and are considered a symbol of strength). It was me telling myself “You’re strong, right? Prove it.”
