The experience of translating vague memories into vivid dialog is equal parts exquisite and excruciating. Yet, it’s necessary to put the past in the proper perspective before finding a way to fit it into an essay or memoir.
Writing about lived experiences sounds counterintuitive. Yet only some folks understand how unconscious implications of the past dictate the course of their future.
Real Talk: The huddled masses struggle with subconscious fears that hold their minds captive in a destructive life loop. That’s mainly because finding words that convey sensory knowledge (recalling past events) is a monster of a task.
Moreover, finishing the prologue helps you find the way to the exit. Understanding where you’ve been and with whom you crossed paths illuminates preconceived notions that have propelled you forward. Conversely, they’ve also weighed you down and held you back.
If you sincerely want to change ➖ for the better ➖ you must be willing to explore the extent of your unconscious preferences.
Life reflection uncovers truths that revisit past actions, adding depth and meaning. Patterns that point out the prejudices hiding behind family lore, societal stereotypes, and spiritual beliefs emerge.
Most importantly, writing a prologue equips you with the emotional intelligence to take control of driving yourself wherever you want to go.
