Ape Mann Adventure Park

Family ropes course suitable for children and adults to have fun on together

Opened in May 2013, the Ape Mann Adventure Park has quickly established itself as a great place to have a fun packed day out in the forest. Set in one of the Island’s largest plantations the adventure park consists of a family ropes course suitable for children and adults to have fun on together, there is also one of the UK’s highest sets of Monkey tree climbing hardware which is a challenge for anybody with a head for heights.

The ropes course has been built using a a continuous lifeline system, no clipping on and off as you go around the activities, great fun for all ages. A long zip line is planned for the summer of 2013 with work on the high ropes course starting later in the year with a planned opening for Easter 2014.

The park can also offer rough terrain pedal karting through the heart of the forest. Great fun but tough on the legs. There is plenty to do for kids and adults. If all of that sounds too much why not just enjoy a coffee or tea, loose youself in a book while the kids burn up some energy in the trees. We also provide fun packed special events for the corporate sector along with a fantastic venue for a special birthday. Give a call on 494252 to find out more or to book a session.

Wildlife Watching

Baby seal on the shore — don’t get too close!

From magnificent marine creatures, to a huge population of visiting and migrant birds, and wildlife from around the world, you’ll find it all in the Isle of Man!

The Isle of Man has an excellent number of vantage points where you can watch a variety of birds in their natural habitats — whether that’s in the serene countryside or nesting in the craggy coastline.

If it’s the Island’s marine life that appeals to you make sure you visit the Sound at the southern tip of the Isle of Man. Here you are almost guaranteed to see a large population of seals that are often spotted basking on the rocks or bobbing and swimming in the water.

During your visit you may even be lucky enough to spot dolphins, whales and basking sharks which inhabit Manx waters. A number of accredited companies run boat charters with the sole intention of tracking down these magnificent creatures.

If you’re unsure where to start why not book a guided wildlife walk and let the experts take you to the Island’s wildlife hotspots?

And if you’re unsuccessful in your hunt, pay a visit to the Island’s wildlife park where you’ll be guaranteed to see a variety of wetland wildlife from across the globe.

Vintage Railways & Horse Trams

…tinkling tramcars, like toast racks, sweeping the curve of the bay …“ (Sir Hall Caine)

The island is blessed with a variety of vintage transport systems — including the famous Douglas promenade horse pulled trams, one that runs down a glen to a cafe by the sea, one that goes through historic mine tunnels, another that climbs our only mountain, a miniature one that runs around the Wildlife Park, and even another with a fine dining car!

Sandy Beaches

Port Erin

There are sandy beaches in all parts of the island, but those in the north, south & west of the island are the best.

Port Erin is a popular, traditional family resort set in an attractive bay on the south west coast. Travel there by steam train!

Chapel Bay, Port St Mary

Opposite Port Erin on the south-east coast lies Port St Mary with it’s attractive sandy beach at Chapel Bay.

Peel beach with the castle on St Patrick’s Isle behind.

Peel is an increasingly popular resort & port on the west coast — lots of cafes near the waterfront, and some really rather nice locally made ice cream.

Other popular beaches include Ramsey & Blue Point on the north-west coast.

PEDEGO ELECTRIC BIKE TOURS

Family Residential Multi-Activity Adventure Courses at the Venture Centre

Family gorge walking

The Venture Centre, the Island’s Premier Outdoor Activity Centre was founded in 1981 and has been run since then by the Read Family.

The unique location of the Centre makes it an ideal venue for a wide range of outdoor pursuits too numerous to mention here.

The Venture Centre is situated in a quiet rural area, two miles south of Ramsey, the Island’s second largest town and only half a mile from the secluded beach of Port-e-Vullen.

It is 30 minutes from the ferry terminal at Douglas and 45 minutes from Ronaldsway airport. Public transport — No.3 bus from Douglas or regular Manx Electric Railway stop nearby.

Manx Geocaching

GPS adventures in the beautiful Isle of Man. Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. This is a group for geocachers on the Isle of Man to swap geocaching type ‘stuff’.
