Basòdino Results and v2 Announcement
The HOPR Basòdino testnet has ended. Huge thanks to everyone who participated! We had 703 registered participants overall, a big increase from Säntis. As always, the data and feedback we’ve gathered has allowed the developers to fix bugs and make improvements to our network stability. This was the first public test of HOPR’s proof of relay system, and we’re delighted with how well it worked.
There were still some residual network stability issues, and the way CoverBot works made it hard for people who registered later to break into the Top 200. We also weren’t able to implement the extra tasks we wanted until the very end of the testnet. Rather than radically change the rules in the final days, we decided the fairest thing would be to resolve this testnet as planned and then allow everyone to start from scratch to get the full experience we intended.
Therefore, we’re excited to announce a second iteration of Basòdino, which will begin on Monday November 9th at 3pm CET and run for two weeks, until Monday November 23rd at 3pm CET. Everyone will start again from 100 points and there will be new daily prize tasks for more ways to earn points.
Best of all, there will be a new 200,000 HOPR prize fund, and the community will be able to determine how it’s distributed. More details below. But first, the winners of Basòdino.
Winners
Congratulations to the 200 highest scorers from the leaderboard, who all win a prize in HOPR tokens. Particular congratulations to our top winners, @dyasid1 and @Bori514, who tied for 1st and 2nd place and so get 30,000 HOPR each. The top 11 winners are shown below. Full results can be found at the end of this post.
In the case of ties, in the top 10 we’ve combined the various prizes and divided them evenly, rounding up to the nearest hundred. When ties spill over into the next rank category (e.g., the two-way tie for 10th place, or the spillover from 21–50 into 51–100), we’ve expanded the rank category so no-one loses out. In the end, this expanded the prize pool slightly to 203,200 HOPR.
How to Claim
To claim your HOPR reward, you’ll need to complete a few verification steps.
First, send a direct message to twitter.com/hoprsupport which includes the Ethereum address you want your HOPR tokens sent to. For security reasons, please don’t tweet your claim publicly to this address. You must send a Twitter direct message from the same account that you used to register with our CoverBot and which is shown on the leaderboard at network.hoprnet.org.
Once the HOPR mainnet launches later in the year, you’ll be able to claim your HOPR by submitting your registered ETH to our bounty smart contract.
Details for how to get your wallet to recognize your HOPR tokens will be shared later. Do not claim your HOPR tokens using an exchange address, as you may not be able to access them. Please use an Ethereum wallet such as MyCrypto, Metamask or MyEtherWallet and ensure you have a copy of the corresponding mnemonic stored in a secure offline location.
All claims must be made by 3pm CET on 11th November, 2020.
Basòdino v2: New Tasks, New Prizes
We’re taking a few days’ break before restarting Basòdino on Monday 9th November. Basòdino v2 will once again run on Matic Network. If you participated in Basòdino v1 you’ll automatically be registered for v2. Everyone’s score will be reset to 100, so people will start with a level playing field. You won’t need to download a new version of HOPR Chat or fund your node again. If you didn’t participate in v1, you can still register for v2.
Even though many things will stay the same, we’re planning for Basòdino v2 to be a completely different experience! Here’s some of the things that will change:
CoverBot
CoverBot will still be a major way to earn points in Basòdino v2. But we’re making improvements so that more people can earn more points, more reliably. There will actually be FIVE versions of CoverBot, each hosted in a different part of the world. This will allow us to relay more data, more rapidly, and also to gather more specific data about network speed and stability. But the way you interact with CoverBot won’t change, and you won’t need to do anything different.
Daily Tasks
The biggest change is the introduction of daily tasks. Each day, there will be a different task to complete to earn points. Some will be simple, others more complicated. Some will involve your node, others will take place in Telegram or Discord, or beyond. Some will be open to complete all day, others will be time-limited or a race. There will be quizzes, votes and other games and contests.
We’ll publish the rules each day at 3pm CET and the task will run until 3pm the following day.
By making the experience more interactive, we’re hoping Basòdino v2 will be more engaging and fair for everyone.
Community-Determined Prize Distribution
There’s another 200,000 HOPR set aside for Basòdino v2. However, we haven’t decided on how they’ll be split. One of the first daily tasks will be to decide the final prize distribution. Should there be a lot of winners with smaller prizes? Or a few winners taking home most of the tokens? Should there be random prizes? We’ll let the community decide, and then implement the result.
There’s a lot more planned, and we’ll use community feedback to determine what’s working and what isn’t. It will be quite random and a little chaotic, but we hope it will be a lot of fun. As always, check into Telegram or Discord for more information.
