We are one month into the New Year and by now you may have chosen to forget about your resolutions altogether. However, it is not too late to right the ship!

If your resolutions became intimidating and too daunting to pursue, try breaking them up into “micro goals”. Think of these as action plans and milestones that will help you achieve your long term aspirations.

Instead of “Do 200 push ups in a day by May 31st”, try setting a weekly goal. Such as, “Do 20 push ups, 4 days this week”.

Or try daily goals. Instead of “Read 2 books a month in 2020”, try “Read 10 minutes a day this week”.

A good micro goal can provide quick, positive feedback and energize your long term efforts. Use micros goals as a tool to rediscover your hope and ambition for 2020!

Take some time this week to review your 2020 resolutions and these guidelines for goal setting — Balanced, Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Time Bound. Read my January 1, 2020 article on B SMART here.
