I Digress is a curation of the writing of Rachel Darnall.

Rachel spent most of her life (from the age of 7) wanting to be a fiction writer, before realizing that sometimes, our gifts don’t quite match up with our dreams, and has been happily writing non-fiction personal essays, cultural commentary and humor pieces ever since.

Rachel has been published at Parent.co, Arc Digital, The Federalist, and is contributing editor for Iron Ladies.

She is so happily married it’s absurd, and lives in Oregon with her dashing husband, adorable daughter, and their spastic border collie, Shostakovich (Shosty) Darnall.

She enjoys mocking new trends, pretending to be 90 years old, talking like Jimmy Stewart, and Being Lame.

She doesn’t have bangs anymore.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Can I submit to I Digress?

A: Alas, no. As much as I would love to run an open publication, I cannot handle the responsibility of crushing the hopes and dreams of other writers, which is why I run this publication where the only submissions I have to reject are my own.

Q: Why is your dog named after a dead, 20th-century Russian composer?

A: Because my husband named her.

Q: How do you find time to write with a one-year-old?

A: She sleeps a lot.

Q: Can I have a cookie?

A: Yes
