Hong Kong, January 31, 2018. iExec is getting involved in the OpenFog Consortium — an international gathering of industry-university organizations that are collaborating to create an open, interoperable and secure horizontal architecture for fog computing to solve some of today’s most common challenges in advanced deployments in the Internet of Things, 5G, and embedded artificial intelligence applications.

Infusing blockchain technologies and services on leading IT players strategy

Although blockchain topics have been very hot in 2017 and will still be in 2018, major IT players still don’t perceive all the potential of this disruptive technology. It might be too challenging for established businesses to really embrace this new economic paradigm. So there’s still a long way for decentralized blockchain-based use cases to be supported by major traditional players.

iExec contribution in OpenFog Consortium

As a leading player in the blockchain-based cloud industry, iExec aims at initiating and getting highly involved in a future working group on blockchain use cases for fog computing. Self-evidently, our decentralized cloud computing platform could find its way in the reference architecture the consortium is building. But more significantly, we want to be leading contributor to the adoption of blockchain by major players of the IT industry. A lot of work has still to be done on this issue, but blockchain will have a major impact on the economy only by gathering traditional and crypto actors at the negotiating table.

See you at the next OpenFog meeting in California on May 8–10, 2018!
