After the V3 release, let’s take a look back at all the recent announcements, releases and events in recent weeks.

On May 15th, iExec V3 smart contracts went live on Ethereum main net. This major annual milestone introduces a new Data Wallet that makes secure data renting possible. Along with V3 upgrades in security and reliability, for the very first time, individuals can connect to iExec and contribute their computing power to earn money. As part of V3, iExec also launched its Enterprise Edition for corporates wishing to do business with blockchain and announced a mainstream industry collaborators.

iExec also announced being ahead of schedule with the roadmap and that the next version, iExec V4, will be released sooner than planned - at the end of 2019.

The V3 announcement video, streamed live on May 15 2019

7 Main extracts from the iExec V3 release news:

  1. Data Wallet (a new business model of data renting is now possible)
  2. iExec for Enterprise
  3. EDF energy deploys on iExec

4. Tech upgrades: Faster and More Secure. New and improved middleware, a bridge for sidechains, and decentralized brokering.

5. Decentralized Oracles with iExec

6. Public Worker Pools (individuals can become computing power providers)

7. iExec V4 coming earlier than planned — (ahead of schedule with the roadmap, V4 will be released at the end of the year)

iExec Public Worker Pool: A community event for iExec Workers

To stress test the new public worker pool, iExec recently held a special event for iExec Workers (individual computing power providers) on the platform. For a limited time, the number of tasks for the public worker pool was increased, with over 7,000 RLC worth of orders placed on over 24 hours on the iExec Marketplace.

Over 240 machines were connected to the public iExec Workerpool, live on Ethereum main net, executing computational tasks for RLC tokens.

New Listing for the RLC Token

iExec RLC token was listed on KyberNetwork, now accessible through KyberSwap and other platforms through their decentralized on-chain liquidity protocol, such as MyEtherWallet, imToken, Trust Wallet, Easwap, and many others. Read the Kyber Network blog:

External Security audit by ChainSecurity on iExec V3 smart contracts:

The iExec V3 contracts went public on May 15. One year since V2 mainnet, it was important to once again carry out an audit on the security, trust and overall design of the new V3 smart contracts before going live. The updated code underwent an independent and external review. Chainsecurity are known for recently identifying the critical flaw before the Ethereum Constantinople fork. Take a look at their findings on iExec:

Overall, we found that iExec employs good coding practices and has clean, well-documented code. All properties verified by CHAINSECURITY hold. However, CHAINSECURITY raised minor security and design issues, which have been fixed in the latest code commit. — ChainSecurity

EDF: Collaboration and Adoption Updates

iExec announced a collaboration with, EDF, one of the world’s major electric utility companies (one of the biggest in Europe, a French electric utility company) As part of the iExec V3 release on May 15. EDF will use iExec resources to power an application. The company has been looking to get involved with an Ethereum-based project and use the RLC token.

Big Announcements during Consensus

iExec co-announced the release of the official EEA Off-Chain Trusted Compute Specification V1.0. The document is intended to be the industry standard for blockchain-based trusted computation. As the chair of the Trusted Compute Working Group in EEA (Enterprise Ethereum Alliance), iExec, Intel and ConsenSys, were the three main authors of the specification
