In today’s digital age, I don’t need to tell you how popular and powerful YouTube has become for content creators to share their passions, insights, and entertainment with the world.

If you’ve been itching to start your own YouTube channel but are unsure of where to begin, you’re in luck. In this blog post, I’ll guide you through a streamlined process to create YouTube videos quickly and efficiently. Get ready to unleash your creativity and captivate your audience!

1. Record video with your smartphone

To kickstart your YouTube video creation journey, utilize the exceptional camera capabilities of your iPhone, such as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, (the phone that I have and record on), or if you’re one of those peculiar Samsung smartphone users, that will do as well.

Now I know what you must be thinking.

My smartphone? Really? Yes — really.

With its advanced camera features, you can capture high-quality footage that will elevate the visual appeal of your content — if done correctly.

I started doing Youtube two years ago. I started on a bulky cannon camera that cost $600. It was cool to learn, but then the phones started being able to record video in the same quality necessary to film YouTube.

So the first thing is ensuring your camera’s video settings are set to record in the ideal recording quality.

Don’t worry — we won’t be getting too technical. Just covering the bare essentials, if I’m honest. So don’t get lost in the sauce, here.

While recording in 4K at 30FPS (or 60FPS) delivers remarkable results, 1080p at 60FPS or 30FPS is also a suitable option, ensuring smooth and professional-looking videos.

In case you aren’t familiar, we’re talking about adjusting the video quality settings on your phone. 1080p is considered “full HD” while the FPS is referring to the frames per second.

30 FPS is standard and is what many movies record in. 60 FPS yields and very clear and sharp-looking image, but some think it actually has too much detail. So it depends on your film style.

Trust me. Learn to master your smartphone camera (assuming you have a relatively high-quality device *preferably from Apple*) before investing in higher-quality equipment.

Besides, investing in expensive equipment before you get started won’t magically make good ideas pop into your head. (Which are still required for creating and uploading videos)

2. Edit your video with the CapCut App

Once you’ve captured your video footage, it’s time to transform it into a polished masterpiece. The CapCut Video Editing App, available on iOS and Android, offers a range of powerful editing features to enhance your content.

If you’re looking to take your videos to the next level, consider subscribing to the Pro version of CapCut, (like $7 a month — which I pay for) which provides access to the best effects, transitions, and editing tools for your videos.

With CapCut, you can trim, merge, add music, apply filters, and much more, all at your fingertips. I used to edit videos with a more expensive software on my desktop, (Adobe Premiere Pro) which was an excellent (and challenging) experience. CapCut makes it all much simpler.

But it didn’t exist two years ago. And it’s amazing.

3. Export your video to your phone’s photo and image library

After you’ve completed the editing process, export your video to your phone’s photo and image library for easy access.

This step ensures that your video is stored securely and readily available for the next stage of the process.

4. Upload your video to YouTube via the YouTube app.

Again, easy as pie.

My old Canon camera used to have an SD card that had to be removed and inserted into my computer. Which meant I needed to worry about having an adapter or breaking my back bending down to my computer each time I wanted to insert this tiny stupid card.

With your edited video ready to go on your phone, it’s time to share your creation with the world, the easy way.

  • Download The YouTube app, which provides a seamless and user-friendly interface for uploading your videos directly from your smartphone.
  • Simply open the app, and tap on the “+” icon at the bottom of the screen.
  • Then press the “Upload Video” button, and select your video from your phone’s library.
  • Add a title for your video, a description, and related tags to what you’re talking about, and choose the appropriate visibility settings. (Private video or public/Made for kids, or not)
  • Press “Upload”

Once you’ve completed these steps, your video will be uploaded to your YouTube channel, ready to be discovered by your audience.

The amount of time it takes to upload depends on the size and video quality of your footage.

5. Entice users to click by creating a jaw-dropping thumbnail on Canva

An eye-catching thumbnail can significantly impact how many people click on your YouTube videos.

Canva, an extremely popular graphic design tool, offers intuitive tools and templates to easily create captivating thumbnails that help grab browsers

Utilize Canva’s extensive library of customizable templates, you can add compelling imagery, engaging text, and vibrant colors to create a thumbnail that entices users to click and watch your video.

Of course, this isn’t an article on graphic design best practices for your thumbnails. But here’s the one I used today just for reference or inspiration.

Conclusion

Creating YouTube videos in 2023 has never been easier. For complete noobs, this process may seem really complicated.

But I can assure you that with a bit of practice, and a can-do attitude, you can follow this streamlined process and produce professional-looking videos more efficiently than you might think.

Remember, it’s not just about the technical aspects but also about letting your creativity shine through.

So, grab your camera, unleash your imagination, and start creating YouTube videos that captivate and inspire your audience.
