Several months ago, I wrote an article titled “How AI Text Generators Will Impact the Writing Industry” about the effect these new programs would have on manufacturing, self-driving cars, speech recognition, and the writing industry.

In the following weeks, there has been an explosion of articles recommending, reviewing, analyzing, and testing AI text generators. Nevertheless, after reading Chaz Hutton’s article asking it to create comics, I decided to give it another try and put ChatGPT to a new test.

How would the generated stories appeal to a children’s audience? Would they be interested, or would they be bored and reject them?

This is what I discovered.

The Parameters

For the first part of the experiment, I asked the AI program to generate five random children’s books, and these are the titles and themes created:

1. A story about a young dragon who learns to control its fiery breath and becomes a hero in its village.

2. A group of animal friends who go on an adventure to find a lost treasure.
