When people of differing age groups clash, a barrage of conflict is sure to follow. Older people dwell on the past, whereas younger people ruminate about the future. But it’s unavoidable that the past, present, and future all fit together like a puzzle. This has been the basis for my Jigsaw Gens series — encouraging intergenerational literacy by exploring how human events shift across adjacent time periods.

Upon launching this anthology series, I looked at America’s most recent eight generations popularized since the Reconstruction period…

Hemingrebels | GI-Gens | Traditionalists | Baby Boomers

GenXers | Millennials | Zoomers | Alphas

Reflecting on the Civil War and prior centuries, I’ve begun to identify various cohorts who could be grouped together based on their common historical markers. So far, I’ve tracked fifteen of them:

Missionaries | Stowegressives | Golden Renegades | Redeemers

Transcendentals | Unimpressionists | Madisonians
