In order to understand history, we need to keep in mind what was happening in the world during any given calendar year. Despite the tensions between the young, old, and middle-aged, we share the common traits of desiring prosperity and stability. This reality is the lynchpin of my “Jigsaw Gens” series. For nearly a year, I’ve been profiling America’s generational breakdowns across history.

Within the first couple of decades following the Civil War, these eight generations began to gradually arise…

Hemingrebels | GI-Gens | Traditionalists | Baby Boomers

GenXers | Millennials | Zoomers | Alphas

Prior to modern history, I’ve tracked previous cohorts from the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries. So far, they have included:

Missionaries | Stowegressives | Golden Renegades | Redeemers

Transcendentals | Unimpressionists | Madisonians | Goodpublicans

Liberty Lords | Septennials | Enlightening Rods
