Quitting Junk food?

Don’t tell anyone, here is why…

So you want out? Don’t tell anyone.

If you do, the Devil will know about it and he will confront you with the challenge of eating fresh salad and tasteless veggies for 365 days.

After a few days or weeks, you will feel miserable, craving that melted cheese, that fulfilling, fat burger, fried chicken, pizza, and that sugar boost as powerful as heroin.

You can’t live without it, and now you are restricted to tasteless healthy meals.

Yes, you eat healthy now, but it is so boring and tasteless that you are not even sure life is worth living.

You have given up something that brought you so much pleasure.
No more treat, no more reward… what is the point?

The Devil has successfully dissuaded you from that silly idea. Besides, all your friends are going there. Why not you? It feels so unfair.

So you may resist a few days, a few weeks. But whatever healthy food you have opted for is not bringing you the pleasure that junk food brought you in the past…
And this is why you cannot take it off your mind.

The Bland taste is the problem

Personally, the main problem in transitioning was the lack of taste in the food I would cook at home.
Cooking or making my own meals tasted bland; it equated with pure boredom. Eating, besides providing nutrients, is a key pleasure of life, and no one wants to miss it.

Sooner or later, I would go back in the habit of eating Ready-made meals or other processed food to finally eat something that tastes good…
and finally rejoice.

Just Trick the Devil.

Here’s the deal: tell him you won’t quit junk food; you’ll make your own, just for a few days!

The first step may be to create your own junk food. This means making sure you find some basic, fast, and easy recipes that taste really good without necessarily being super healthy.

  • Just make sure you come up with something that tastes really good to you and create your own new addiction.
  • Search cooking channels on YouTube for simple ideas.
  • Keep experimenting until you find that thing or combo that is as addictive as the processed food you are so use to.

And when you find these simple, easy recipes, they may not provide the most balanced diet, but at least they will taste really good and be free from some of the hundreds of chemicals found in processed foods. Below is a non-exhaustive list of ingredients used in McDonald’s products as an example.

Now, let me ask you a question: Do you need to hold a PhD in physics to see what is wrong here? Just look at it; the answer is obvious.

This is not food you are eating; it looks more like the result of a mad scientist’s experimentation. When a bun needs about 5 or 7 ingredients, let’s make one with 50 and see how it turns out.

This applies to 80% of bread available in grocery stores. So choose carefully when you prepare… your own… clean… junk food!

Some chemicals have the following effects:

  • Suppress the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut while promoting the growth of harmful ones.
  • Alter the gut microbiome by disrupting the mucous layer that protects the gut lining.
  • May lead to leaky guts, where the intestines become more permeable than normal, allowing toxins and bacteria to enter your bloodstream.
  • Lead to inflammation and trigger immune responses, weakening the immune system.
  • Stimulate neurons, making you perceive what you eat as good by using Monosodium glutamate (MSG) or other excitotoxins equivalent, depending on the country.

Your are being tricked

Pleasure here is not even the result of the food you actually eat, but the result of chemicals known as ‘excitotoxins’ triggering a response in your brain, making you believe it’s good.

I don’t know about you… but personality I called that being cheated!

You give them your hard-earned money, fruits of your labor, and what do they give you in return?
Fake, artificial, lab-made food that makes you sick and has low nutritional value. How cool is that?

Sounds like a pretty shitty business deal to me, so I am out.
