This Is What I Do to Keep My Articles New & Awesome

And why you too should regularly update your most important Medium content.

My guess is that few writers on Medium update their writings. I have personally not seen any Medium articles indicating they were updated. I am sure they exist. But I bet they are few.

I update my Medium posts and articles all the time.

This past week I have updated almost one article each day. When an update is substantial, I add an update tag showing the date to the Subtitle of my articles. If the update is minor, I do not add the update tag.

I update posts/articles because:

1. I find new material that expands on what I originally wrote. Sometimes it presents a different or opposing view to what I wrote. Other times it is a resource that I think readers would appreciate. I have a Related Resources section in most of my articles.
   — This is the most common reason I update articles.
   — Occasionally, I discover a mistake on something (like an Einstein quote that he never said), so I fix that.
2. I notice embarrassing typos. That is…
