Schedules are what every average person wants to have. Some think it gives them a sense of orderliness; some feel responsible when they have schedules to follow, and some have too many tasks to follow that they just need to have a schedule. Whatever the reason maybe people need schedules and a lot o people keep schedules. However, the problem is that the increasing number of tasks that people have to do daily is quite on the high side, and many people are complaining “ I can’t seem to keep up with my schedules”. I remember doing a survey early this year and a large percentage of people said they couldn’t keep up with their schedules, This you can find in the picture below

Now that we know that this problem of keeping to schedules is quite popular amongst people, let’s go into the cause or reason for this widespread problem

  1. Time Management: Most people who complain of this same issue, if asked closely what they do with their time or how they run their schedules in a day, will discover that they have already wasted one or two odd hours doing NOTHING!! Yes, people spend time on time-wasting elements that they are aware of and sometimes not even aware of, an easy-to-come-by-one is Social media. It has almost become a default action for people to pick up their devices in the morning to either check feeds or blog posts or vlogs and an average person spends nothing less than at least 10 minutes and that’s for those that can recover from this time-wasting habit quickly, some can delay for an hour plus, and by the time they are ready to attend to schedules, they find out that they are already behind schedules. If nothing is done, schedules would never be completed. What to do? To Keep up with schedules, You need need to comprehend time management and follow up with time management tips or skills to make sure you are ready to keep up with your schedules. Luckily for you, I have prepared both, just click the links below, letter A for Time Management And the other for Time Management Skills. Just click, read, and let’s move on.

A. Time Management

B. Time Management Tips Or Skills

2. Too Many Tasks: Many people either in a bid to be over-responsible or overcommitment, choke up their schedules with tasks that are not humanly possible to achieve in a day in their daily schedules, and at the end of the day, they find out that they are choked and still couldn’t achieve all on their schedules. What to do is very simple, Don’t bite more than you can chew, and don’t make a promise you can’t keep. Some people choke up themselves with more tasks just because it’s someone personal that’s asking them to, and because they feel that if they refuse they might fall out with the person, they keep making promises and keep taking on more than they can chew; at the end of the day, they realize they can’t keep up with schedules, taking us back to base camp. However, you can politely refuse and make the person see reasons why you wouldn’t be able to fulfill whatever request the person has then, but make sure you make it up to him/her or you might fall out with the person.

3. Distractions: I touched on the topic of distraction in both the time management and time management tips. It would benefit you if you read them. Distractions have a way of taking us off the original plan and path, to something that is rather less productive and less beneficial to our plans for a day, and we often spend lots of time on distractions that before we gain our senses back, a lot of time has already been wasted. To keep up with schedules, distractions should be kept at arm’s length.

4. Lack of Motivation: People struggle to keep up with schedules because they lack motivation. When people no longer see the reason to engage in a particular activity, especially if it’s a long task or one that is not going to bring results in a short while, They may struggle to find the energy and focus needed to accomplish the task. Instead of focusing on a task they either engage in trivial issues or spend a long time deliberating on a task and still do not accomplish it because of a lack of motivation. This is caused by:

— Lack of interest: If someone is not interested in a particular task, they may struggle to find the motivation to complete it. This is particularly true if the task is not aligned with their values, goals, or passions.

— Lack of clarity: If one isn’t clearheaded about a particular task, they will lack the motivation to forge ahead with that task

— Fear of failure: Everyone is afraid of failure, we only want to succeed, and if by chance we find out that in a project we are about to carry out, there is a chance of failure, we tend to withdraw because failure is an orphan while success has many brothers. However, there is something we tend to overlook in failure. You only learn when you fail, because if you succeed on the first try, you would only be focused on your success and forget about whatever mistakes you have made or how you could have done it differently. If we can embrace failure as much as we embrace success, we would in no time surpass our old selves.

— Burnout: If you are overworked or stressed you may experience burnout which can lead to the loss of energy and motivation to continue with a task. To avoid this, Do your task, one at a time. Don’t take on what you can’t accomplish.

5. Last but not least is Procrastination: This has robbed many of their precious time that could be put to better use in accomplishing set goals. Don’t Ever Procrastinate. Do promptly what you must do at the right time. Hay should only be made while the sun still shines. There is a time for everything under the sun, when you procrastinate, you take tasks that are supposed to be accomplished in a particular time frame to another time frame thereby overlapping that time frame, and at the end of the day, you discover that you couldn’t accomplish your tasks again because you put them off to another time frame thereby causing overlapping.
