I'm a sucker for 30-day fitness challenges. I've done more of them than I can count — heck, I even create my own 30-day challenges. There's just something magical about them; they give you a tangible goal to work towards that's spans enough time to get results, but not much that you lose steam.

So when Jillian Michaels announced her fitness app's 30 Strong Challenge would start on January 3rd, I couldn't resist.

I had taken an extended break from high-intensity metabolic training to focus on lower-intensity weight training exercises. However, it's been a few months, and I feel now is the perfect time to take on a short-term, high-intensity program like this 30-day challenge to fire up my fitness after spending the last couple of weeks of surviving chocolate-fueled self-isolation.

But this challenge takes it up a notch because it goes far beyond exercise and nutrition. If you're interested in doing a fitness overall this January, here's an overview of the challenge and my thoughts after completing day one.
