About
In Search of Search (& its Engines)
Research notes & miscellany from a research group focused on the intersection between media & information literacies and search, search engines, and search-adjacent recommender systems. Based at Lund University’s Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies.
Note from the editor

In Search of Search (& its Engines) comes out of a multidisciplinary research theme at the Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies at Lund University in Sweden. Since October 2020 seven researchers from across the university have met weekly to dig into, write about, and discuss search and search engines. We aim to make visible what remains invisible for most. Search engines have established new ways of knowing, new ways of doing business, even new ways of relating to each other — but most of the time they melt into the background of everyday and professional life. This publication contains interviews with seminar visitors and guest researchers, research notes, essays, and video talks and interviews, and new content will be added throughout 2021. Thanks for reading!
