Questions on our mind

The Indian Crypto Media has a history. Of Struggle. There is immense talent in journalism in this sector but there are some underlying issues that no one wants to address, or is finding hard to address.

  • Where will the money come from?
  • How should the media industry work to survive?
  • Should it shun all inhibition and shill every shitcoin that is willing to spend?
  • What is the basic need that the Indian Crypto media industry has not been able to understand?
  • How should they evolve and into what?
  • What do they need to be world-class?

Roundtable #5 brings together some leaders in the Indian crypto media industry to brainstorm solutions and make themselves greater!

The Roundtable Knights

This roundtable had to be unique. We had a bunch of experienced media personnel who had spent the last 2 years to develop their trade in crypto. Some are great influencers and have a good following on their Youtube channels, and other social media accounts, others have probably just started off and are looking at establishing a revenue stream.

But the struggles are neverending. Hats off to these budding media entrepreneurs who make their trade accessible to one and all, and make sure the right information reaches all of us.

Salient points of the Roundtable discussion

The following are the salient points of the brainstorming today.

Current Status of the Indian crypto media world

  • The #RBIVsCrypto decision saw a spike in the viewership and readership
  • New users asking 40% questions
  • New revenue streams opening up for all mediums

Challenges faced by crypto media businesses

  • Despite the rise in new queries, reach has not increased substantially
  • Organic reach is quite slow
  • Inorganic growth requires funds which are hard to come by
  • User retention & attention span is an issue
  • Incentives for users to read or watch is missing.
  • The message does not spread beyond the loyal followers within the community
  • Large brands in the Indian crypto market want free coverage
  • The industry is not supporting Indian crypto media adequately
  • The legality of paying projects is questionable or not clear

Solutions

  • Influencers should write guest posts in traditional media outlets
  • A clear strategy needed for better message & information dissemination to loyal followers
  • Explore smart & creative ideas needed for outreach
  • The fraternity must support each other’s work
  • Design an incentive model like #BasicAttentionToken
