This is what happens when your stories pile up — Image generated in NightCafeStudio.

If you’ve sent your story to a publication, then you can wipe your hands, your work is done. Next!

If you’re publishing to your own publication or your page, then you can either publish immediately, wait and then publish, or schedule.

Most of you probably don’t want to post all your stories for the week on the same day…unless you do. Who am I to tell you what you want or don’t want to do? But suppose you don’t and you want to space things out a bit.

‘I’ll post when I’m feeling it, Binky, no worries there.’

And then something happens that keeps you away from your computer for a whole week, a whole month, or longer.

It can be as simple as catching a cold, working overtime, or running around with your kids because you find yourself volunteering to help with their show.

Or it can be as severe as burning out, a medical procedure, an accident, or a loss. Which I don’t wish on anyone.

Maybe you got zapped into a book, Jumamji style — Image by Randa_Hamdouni on Pixabay.

Something happened to me recently, and just because my left hand is out of commission for a bit, doesn’t mean my Medium writing career has to suffer.

I was not up to going downstairs into my office and working. I was managing emotions from what happened and trying to rest. It’s taken nearly two weeks for me to feel, ‘Okay, I can get a bit of work done now,’ even while respecting my body’s post-surgery needs.

I had, however, some stories scheduled, and others sent to publications. Thus, six stories were published without me doing anything more (three via a pub, and three I scheduled), and a few more will be published in the coming days.

Only two stories I worked on to complete and submit. Thus, a total of eight stories were published since I found myself AFK (away from keyboard).

Hence, the beauty of scheduling.
