Inner Babel
Torah was written at the border between history and pre-history. Immediately after the flood, we were unified — One language. At Babel, God scattered the languages. That is now each person’s inner battleground. And our collective confusion. Let’s build anew, together.
Note from the editor

Torah plays out during the human transition from pre-history into history. Big Bang —13.8 million years. First homo sapiens —250,000 years. First civilatizations — 4000BC. Torah starts — 3760BC — 5784 years ago. Talmud understands that the world will exist for 6000 years: 2000 of nothingness (Adam and Noah); 2000 of Torah (Abraham to Exile/Jesus); and 2000 years of messiah (to be discussed). Biblical history (same as evolution) changes in major shifts: right after Noah, and right after Jesus. In the last 10 of Noah’s 950 years, we see the Tower of Babel. At Babel, “all” humans, with One language, build a tower into the heavens in order to overthrow God. In response, God scatters the languages. And 13 years after Noah, God promises to bless all the nations through Abraham. Today, with our mental health crisis (and every other crisis) we are all internally scattered. All building our inner towers to the sky — our castles of control. In these days, this is each person’s inner battleground. And ur collective confusion. We are scattered, and re-gathering. Thankfully, the first step is a step back. What am I now building toward? What can I build toward? And can we explore that together?
