Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a form of therapy targeting traumatic memories. It uses bilateral stimulation which is just another way of saying ‘follow the bouncing ball.’ My therapist told me up front that some people don’t make it through the sessions. Now I know what he meant by that.

Somehow, I never met the right person to marry until my mid-thirties and when I did, it was a whirlwind of engagement and then marriage. We made friends, had social activities and generally had a great life together. However, 20 years into the marriage, Billy began to slowly decline because of lifelong diabetes and the complications that it caused in his body.
