WHAT WE’RE WATCHING
After months of negotiations, the House finally passed the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill in a 228–206 vote
- The bill includes funding for roads & bridges, public transit, broadband infrastructure, and more
- The Build Back Better (BBB) plan is expected to move forward as well, though it may undergo significant changes in the Senate
- Some Senate Democrats are still pushing for pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants in the BBB, but may have to settle for more temporary provisions such as five-year work permits and deportation protections
The Senate has confirmed Robert Santos as the first Latino, and first person of color, to lead the U.S. Census Bureau
Last week’s election results from Virginia and New Jersey may foreshadow GOP success in the 2022 midterms
