Imagine being locked in
forced one way
in a compromise.

Imagine you are thought to be
one thing, when in reality
you are another.
Sound familiar?

I am that other.

Imagine loving someone
like no other
Not as a parent, sibling,
and unfortunately?
Not lover.

Imagine a soul sharing partner
on one side.
Except? You’re the

other
outsider
not considered,
unless pressed
always less
always second
if you’re lucky
you’re not last

the mistress
in the wife’s house
talk about
being a louse
unknowing
unseeing
of your standing

Imagine being requested
to hand over
financials
while told
you’re presumptious
to require anything less
and left with nothing
while always requested
to provide
something more

Imagine the inability
to see you deserve more

And finally

Imagine doing this
for thirty years
or more

Now imagine
the how to get out
it’s near impossible
without a hand
or a handout

Seeing pathways
seeing doubt

Imagine not imagining
anything else
without leaving your heart behind
as it beats without
and that’s a
permanent
requirement
there is no doubt

Imagine

and it needs to end
before

kills you
