the longer you leave it
it’s cinnamon toast
pancakes if you’re lucky
a kitchen with warmth
spaghetti and eggs
or
kidneys and rice
and things that feel nice
it’s an orange sugar maple
and a warm hug when I return
it’s loving people
who make me feel welcome
it’s a place that feels safe
things that are warm
places that give peace
love that gives space
there are spaces and people
that give what you need
things that bring you
back to that place
feelings or people
it matters not
tell me what you want
tell me what you need
because to me
these are the things
that we call home
