Named for the goddess of love,
And beauty.

No sunlight penetrates its clouds of acid and sulfur,
The ground sulks in darkness.

Heat,
That would stifle a desert snake,
Smothers the globe as oceans smother Atlantis.

No plants grow from its barren soil.
Poison coats the air like sap on a tree.

Humans have destroyed the Earth with pollution,
But our sins pale in comparison,
To what God has done to Venus.

Named for the goddess of love,
And beauty,
The planet Venus knows neither.
