Excerpts from forthcoming book on values
Note from the editor

You will find excerpts here from my forthcoming book on counting. There are small truths about counting that are important. Like, “What counts is not countable, and what is countable does not really count.” And, “The purpose of counting is to drive productive action, not to measure value.” These small truths greatly move the ball forward by bringing clarity to our engagement with counting. However, as the poet Rabindranath Tagore said, “The small truth has words that are clear. The great truth has great silence.” That great silence where words cannot do justice to the content that is emerging from within us, is the goal of this book, through the narrow lens of counting. This book honors the small truths about counting and makes an audacious leap into the great truth that takes us into that zone of silence where we can feel that great truth, truly know it, and strangely, enter into it through the doorway of counting.
