Earlier this month, AB2020 contributor and serial entrepreneur Sean Obedih announced the launch of Sobek Venture Bank –Africa’s first financial institution of its kind.

SobekBank aims to provide support for Africa’s most ambitious entrepreneurs, offering a range of services including raising venture debt, growth capital, M&A advisory and wealth management.

Sean says: ‘This is not just another business project, it is a combination of everything that I have done since 2006 when I registered my first business. That was decision that ultimately changed my life and hopefully this [Sobek] will be my life’s work.’

Over the past decade, UK-based Sean, who was born in Rwanda, has been involved in setting up multiple ventures, including NewGenAngels.
