Are You Afraid To Lose What You Hold Dear?

Are you afraid to lose what you hold dear?
To face the echoes of silent tears?
What seems so certain now, bound to change
As days unwind, their errant strings

We cling to moments, loath to say goodbye
Memories tucked safe where none can pry
But whispers in our soul know well each end
Will birth new life, another circle bends

Do not your calloused hands from grasping tight
Instead, prize each soft touch, each loving light
Before it fades, as all ephemeral things
Dissolve like dreams on awak’ning wings

Let terror lose its hold upon your heart
Unclench your fists to drop fear’s icy dart
Live every second as a sacred gift
Loss cannot wound when joy is swift

All passes in time’s wash upon the shore
The ebb and flow, the same as e’er before
So let go of fear, receive what may ensue
With open hands and heart open too

Fear not changes brought on waves of fate
In change finds growth; in growth lies solace great
So drift where tides of fortune pull you hence
Face change with calm and calloused confidence
