The night sky spreads above, a canvas so vast
Filled with twinkling lights that shine and last
The stars above dot the dark expanse
Like specks of paint on an artist’s chance

To create a masterpiece without end
A swirling scene, their glows to send
Across the earth for all to see
Who gazes up, wondering what may be

What dreams could these tiny lights portray
As they shimmer through the dark away
Perhaps scenes of far-off places unknown
Or people and things that we’ve never shown

The painter above works through the night
Blending colors with a magic light
Filling our minds with such wonder and cheer
On the backdrop of black stretching far and near

We gaze and ponder what tales are told
In the language of starlight shimmering and cold
The story keeps changing each night we see
The canvas of darkness for all to see

So whenever you find yourself under the sky
Take a moment to gaze with a wandering eye
Let your thoughts wander as high as the stars
To the painter above and dreams from afar
