Hey Medium! I would like to present you jeK’s most recent event: bluesessions #byjeK. blue what? Yes, bluesessions. Right now you might be wondering what I’m talking about (after all, we have just started with this concept).

The idea is quite simple: to fill some of the gaps between the University knowledge and the real world of enterprises (always in a practical way). As so, we want to bring you some of the ultimate tools, technologies and programming languages that you may have never learnt in theoretical lessons (to be honest we understand they can be pretty annoying sometimes. 😉)

Java meets Script

JavaScript (JS) is certainly one of the most used programming languages at the moment. Please note: The only thing JavaScript and Java have in common it’s the name! Besides that they are rather different (that’s an ordinary mistake people do). JS is extremely versatile! It has countless applications: starting in Web Servers and ending in Websites development, it has a large range of applications.

We invited Filipe Perdigão, a full stack developer (backend+frontend developer) from RedLight Software (which is a jeKnowledge’s Learning Partner, click here to read my Medium article about this) to be our tutor for this JS lesson.

Our Workshop took place in Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) which is a prestigious business incubator (international winner of the Best Science Based Incubator Award 2010) in Coimbra. The environment was quite cozy and I feel we had a productive time there.

Focus. Our first bluesession, Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN)

Once one of the requirements of this Workshop was some previous knowledge about how to code, so we jumped the first part of “Introduction to Code” to an “Introduction to JavaScript”. As so, we focused our attention more on understanding the differences between JS and other programming languages and starting with some simple exercises to assimilate what we were learning.

Let’s get Digital!

Our 2nd bluesession Workshop was devoted to Digital Marketing.

This time our attendees had the chance to understand how the Marketing World works (at least to have the chance to answer to the questions Who? What? How?).

Our invited speaker was Filipe Carvalho, a Digital Marketing Strategist from 10.digital (another jeKnowledge Learning Partner! Click here to read my Medium article about this).

After an introductory part to Digital Marketing and to 10.digital’s work, everyone had the chance to apply what they have learnt in practical examples. Do you have any project or enterprise where you can expand your Digital influence online? What is your consumer target? Which are the core features that you what to be recognized to? Those are some of the questions we tried to answer in the second part of the workshop.

Call to action!

While you were reading this you felt like you really wanted to get the chance to participate on a bluesessions Workshop? Wait no more!! We are just in the beginning and more bluesessions will come!

Stay tuned to jeKnowledge’s Facebook and to our online event where every news will be updated!
