This week JET8 celebrates the launch of 7 new Fan Community Apps, and the JET8 Foundation ramps up their global efforts to promote Decentralized Engagement Networks, augmenting support from new and exciting quarters.

The JET8 Foundation attracts first Official Board Advisor

The Foundation’s first official Board Advisor was named today as Julius Wiedemann of TASCHEN Publishing House. The news highlights increased public understanding of DEN’s, and the technology’s role in altering marketing and community building practices.

In his new role, Julius will assist the Foundation in building Decentralised Engagement Communities with a focus on Arts, Entertainment, Creativity and Festivals, and the Latin American region.

As Senior Editor for Design and Pop Culture at TASCHEN Publishing House, and as an acclaimed lecturer, magazine contributor and industry pundit, Julius Wiedemann offers a highly relevant, contemporary and unique perspective on society.

I describe myself as sitting at the intersection between culture, communication and technology, and I’m fascinated with where we are headed. Looking at the creative work JET8 is producing both in terms of technology and design, I can see how decentralized engagement networks are going to alter the way we create, express, and earn. So when Victor told me about the Foundation I saw an opportunity to be involved in creating the future! — Julius Wiedemann.

Julius Wiedemann

Throughout the course of his 17 years at TASCHEN, Julius has edited over 80 books, with worldwide sales exceeding 2 million copies. Showcasing his creative interests, some of his most popular publications include those entitled History of Graphic Design, Information Graphics, and Understanding the World.

It is this wealth of knowledge and combination of interests that drew Foundation Board Director Victor Zabrockis into conversations with Julius.

I’ve been meeting with TASCHEN for some time, and over the course of our relationship I realised, this is exactly the kind of person we need to help guide the Foundation’s course. The Foundation isn’t just about the technology, it’s about the vision of changing the landscape of social media yes, but also about changing the way we interact, the way we engage with one another, the way we perceive value- and all of this through a creative, design based lens. Julius totally gets this vision and we’re very excited about the future! Well, the now- The Future is Now after all! — Victor Zabrockis, JET8 Foundation Board Director.

Sports & Band Fan Communities take off

A swathe of communities went live this week with sports fans taking the lead, followed closely by the independent music industry. Having only launched the first of the APPaaS verticals in April, the rapid adoption rate shows great promise for the technology.
