And Here is Allah’s Promise to You

No doubt, surely, all that is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah. No doubt, surely, Allah's Promise is true. But most of them know not.— Qur’an 10[Yunus]:55

When you establish a connection with Allah, you consciously submit to Him and then you begin to see how beautiful life is. Mankind needs to understand who Allah is, and until then will they be able to trigger the connectivity with Him. Allah is the One and Only True God, the Creator of the universe. Dr. Jamal Badawi explains it this way: “Allah is not only just a meaning of God it is also a personal name for God, both a reference to God and His personal name. This is beautiful in a sense. You don’t just say God but you can also say Lord but when you say Allah you’re invoking the name, the personal name, of God. It establishes a personal touch or a pull between the human being and the Creator”.

Many of us picture Allah based on our understanding as humans. For instance, Allah gives and forgives in totality. Humans, on the other hand, gets and forgets in entirety. So we sometimes view Allah based on a shallow thought. We think because people fail in their words, then we lose hope in Allah’s assurance. Bear in mind, Allah isn’t a man; when He promises, He definitely fulfills His Vow. Sometimes, it requires patience and resilience to realize the promise of Allah is true. In His divine generosity, Allah bestows upon humanity numerous bounties irrespective of submission or worship to Him. He protects those who seek refuge with Him and even provides for all of His creatures. This we certainly know but often fail to admit. Here we will examine a few instances of Allah’s promises as described in the Qur’an.

  • Do good and earn forgiveness with a mighty reward: The concept of reward in Islam is such a beautiful one that’s second to none. A good deed is rewarded up to seven hundred or more times. And the best of which is the reward of paradise for the good-doers.

Allah has promised those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah — Islamic Monotheism) and do deeds of righteousness, that for them there is forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise). — Qur’an 5[Al-Maidah]:9

  • Call upon me and I will respond: You will always find Allah where you put Him. The reality of this statement is felt by the one who truly believes and puts this into practice. If you hold Him so dear at all times, you’d always remember to invoke Him at a time of need.

And your Lord said: “Invoke Me, (i.e. believe in My Oneness (Islamic Monotheism)) (and ask Me for anything) I will respond to your (invocation). — Qur’an 40[Al-Ghafir]:60

  • Express gratitude and I will give you more: This statement of Allah asserts that gratitude is a fruit of great cultivation. The more you give thanks, the more blessings you receive from the All-Merciful Lord.

And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: “If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allah), I will give you more (of My Blessings), but if you are thankless (i.e. disbelievers), verily! My Punishment is indeed severe.” — Qur’an 14[Ibrahim]:7

  • Remember Me; I will remember you: Indeed in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest. How cool is it that Allah remembers you? In fact, He assures that if you remember Him, He will remember you in a worthy gathering amidst the angels.

Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying, etc.). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless Favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me. — Qur’an 2[Al-Baqarah]:152

  • Allah will not punish them while they seek forgiveness: Allah is a Merciful God, He forgives all sins as long as the sinner repents. Repentance and forgiveness is a praiseworthy act we all need to implement. If Allah can forgive us, then why can't we forgive each other? So seek repentance before you return to your Lord and forgive those who wrong you as well.

And Allah would not punish them while you (Muhammad SAW) are amongst them, nor will He punish them while they seek (Allah's) Forgiveness. — Qur’an 8[Al-Anfal]:33

So these are just a few verses from the Qur’an where Allah gave His words in those scenarios. The true believers are the ones who believe in the unseen. We know Allah is unseen yet we chose to believe in Him. Let’s conclude this piece with an awesome description with which Allah described Himself.

“He is Allah: He is Allah, the One Whom none has the right to be worshipped but He, the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen (open). He is the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. He is Allah Whom none has the right to be worshipped but He. The King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, theWatcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah! (High is He) above all that they associate as partners with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms. To Him belong the Best Names . All that is in the heavens and the earth glorify Him. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. — Quran 59[Al-Hashir]:22–24
