I’m Excited about Ramadan, Are You?

Whatever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, for He is the Almighty, All-Wise. To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death. And He is Most Capable of everything. — Qur’an 57[Al-Hadid]:1–2

Glorified and Exalted is Allah above all that exists. May His endless blessings be showered upon Muhammad — Peace Be Upon Him. His household, companions, and the rest of the Muslims. Ameen! It was with a great aura of delight that I picked up my laptop and started typing this piece. It’s not intended to be a masterpiece, so I just wanted to share a few thoughts before Ramadan sets in. Alhamdulillah, we’re just a few days to Ramadan 1443H. I’m so excited because this is yet another blessed opportunity. A rare one because not everyone who witnessed the last Ramadan will complete this. We ask Allah to count us among the few successful ones.

Before proceeding to share with you three things that keep me excited for the coming Ramadan, I’d like to give us a pointer to some previously published articles on Jum’ah Nuggets that could also be beneficial to make this Ramadan awesome.

  1. A checklist of the things you need to do before Ramadan
  2. Some actions you could engage with in Ramadan
  3. Here are a few mistakes you could avoid in this fasting season
  4. The numerous blessings of Fasting in the blessed month
  5. My free e-book: 30 Days of Transformation — How Ramadan Can Change Your Life Positively
  6. And finally, set your Ramadan Goals. For me, that’s golden!

Now, let’s delve into the things that get me happy in the light of Ramadan:

  1. I’m hopeful of earning the forgiveness of my Lord: As humans, we all err and the best of the sinners are those who repent. I’m optimistic of Allah’s forgiveness and I hope you’d take advantage of this opportunity as well to wipe your slate. So here’s the beautiful hadith that gives us solace:

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger peace be upon him said, “Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.” — Saheeh Al-Bukhari

2. I’m happy to read and write for the next 29 or 30 days: Hopefully, I’d read texts from the Qur’an and a beneficial book every single day. Many of our avid readers know the story of jum’ah nuggets how it all started five years ago. My beloved brother and friend GoodMan™ inspired the daily briefs with his DhikrPosters for Ramadan. And this is the good thing about using Ramadan to build good habits or break away from bad ones. That year, I wrote an article every day to support the theme of the poster. After that year’s Ramadan, I got addicted to writing and found it difficult to stop. The feat was repeated once or twice between then and now. However, I’m glad to let you know we’re bringing back the collaboration. Guess what? There will be a daily dose this year in sha Allah. Watch Out!

3. I’m glad I’d be spending Ramadan with my family: The last time I spent Ramadan in my native country was half a decade ago. This year in sha Allah, I’d be fasting in my native land and also looking forward to having the last ten days in al-haramain if Allah wills. The vibes and ecstasy that come with Ramadan preparation back home are second to none. I’m really thankful that Allah granted me this opportunity and I pray that He blesses you with all your good desires as well. Don’t forget to make a lot of dua’ and I’m making a humble request that you include me as well -:)

Al-Hafiz Ibn Rajab (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “Ma‘alla ibn al-Fadl said: They used to pray to Allah for six months, may He be exalted, asking Him to cause them to reach Ramadan, and they used to call upon Him for six months asking Him to accept it from them. Yahya ibn Abi Kathir said: One of their du‘as was: “O Allah, keep me safe until Ramadan, keep Ramadan safe for me, and accept it from me.”” (Lataif al-Ma‘arif, p. 148)

In conclusion, let’s prepare our minds and set out with a good intention. Make Ramadan look exciting for the kids, help those who are in need of support and be sure you’re medically fit to embark upon the journey. Do not forget to make provision and the best of which is piety. The goals in Ramadan are golden, hence it’s worth the struggle. If you’re excited about Ramadan, please share the khayr with us in the response section.

Barakallahu fiikum! Allahuma Balighna Ramadan!! Ameen!!!
