Andong Hahoe Village

One of the recommended locations is looking down at Hahoe Village from Byeongdae Cliff. A pity on the day I visited the place, the boat stopped running, so I could not view it from Byeongdae Cliff. However the village itself is worth visiting. Especially if this is your first time here in Andong, Hahoe Village is a must on your list.

If you have done some research on Andong, you may know that Hahoe Village and Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy are close to each other, in fact you get to both of the places by the same bus. Quite a lot of people take bus to Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy, and make use of the 15 min stopping time there to tour the place and get back to Hahoe Village. I did not do that because I did not want to visit Byeongsanseowon in a hurry.

Another way of visiting Byeongsanseowon with Hahoe is to walk there. There is the Scholar Road (선비길)connecting the two places.

Inside Hahoe Village, you can find a lot of signs showing you how to walk to Byeongsanseowon. This path between the two places is actually part of the Confucian Culture Road Course 2 (유교문화길 02코스 하회마을길). It is named Scholar Road (선비길), I guess it is probably the path people used to walk to school in the past? Along Nakdong River, this section is about 4km in length. I did not have the time to try it out as I was in a hurry to get to Dosan Confucian Academy. If you are interested, you can check out pictures in this blog to see what this path looks like.

Dosan Confucian Academy

Dosan Confucian Academy is located in the other side of Andong, so if you are going there from Hahoe Village, you must first get back to city centre and change bus to get there. It is really SUPER beautiful here in autumn! Maybe because I was there when the lights and the weather was just right in one fine autumn afternoon. I think everyone should put this place on their autumn Andong itinerary.
