The year that all people in the world were shaken by a terrible disease and the need to reinvent themselves in the midst of forced isolation, but we have not given up on our purpose.

The LTUX community barely set foot in Latin America and we were hit by what turns out to be the worst pandemic since the Spanish flu in 1920. COVID-19 has so far caused more than 1.6 million deaths worldwide, according to the official website, and forced us to restrict to our homes, in isolation.

It was not an easy year. There were moments of fear, anxiety, overload, longing for family, friends and everything we were used to doing. We found ourselves in a situation where we needed to be more understanding and resilient than ever. Before the pandemic, all of our meetings were traditionally in person. It was part of our initiative to meet face to face with people who inspire and encourage us, not only to be excellent and competent professionals, but also to be better, more empathetic, friendly and supportive people, which became a pause in the middle of competitiveness that we eventually encounter in the workplace.

But this year everything changed, we had to think of other ways to continue with the project and we had to look for new ways to connect, and it is with joy and relief that I can say that we have succeeded.

What we've done

Despite all the chaotic scenery, we didn’t give up!

We ended the year with 82 chapters in the world, 30 in Latin America, 24 in Brazil, check out the full list.

We are more than 100 talented women among Leaders and Volunteers in community organization in Latin America.

We launched three new projects: Mentoring Program, Podcast and Family.

45 meetups addressing technical and behavioral issues were broadcast through our YouTube channel, which has already had 9,400 views and has 1260 subscribers, we conducted 10 rounds of conversation, 87 articles were published in the medium that in the last ninety days have had 19,607 views, the channel has 46 authors (be one) and 1554 followers, 12 episodes were also published with interviews with experts on the podcast that has already resulted in 2440 plays.

170 places were drawn in courses and events for the community through the support and encouragement of our partners Mergo, Product Arena, UX Change by Amyris Fernandez, HOW Bootcamp, Carla Link / Talking City, Georgia Demas, UX4BI, Rafael Helm, Claudia Mardegan and Guilherme Marques.

We organized the Ladies That UX International Conference, Talk UX, in an edition we call Across Cities Meeting. There were 5 days of live broadcasts, 23 lectures with professionals from all over the world and from major companies such as: Google, Microsoft, Udemy, Mercado Livre, Digitalist, Echos and Cisco, 6 panels focused on the UX panorama and diversity, adds the total of 35 hours of content, 2,400 views, 8 months of dedication and 40 people who volunteered to make it happen, especially the elite troop: Monica Barros, Dêssirre Dias, Gabriela Rocha, Gabriela Bechara Zillig, Jennifer Moreno, Bruna Lourenço, Mariana Ozaki and Kavitha Krishnan, the Director of Talk UX. See what happened in this and the last editions on the channel dedicated to the event on You Tube.

We had the LTUX Special for São Paulo Tech Week with content broadcast exclusively on our You Tube channel. There were 6 lectures, 11 mentoring sessions, a round table on the importance of communities with Vania Teofilo de Oliveira representing LTUX, Rafael Burity from UXPA and Renato Paixão from PretUX and there was still time for a Happy Hour. This meeting was only possible thanks to Vania Teofilo de Oliveira Leader of the Mentoring Program, Isabela Sousa Guimarães Leader of the Uberlândia Chapter and Tatiana Barros, curator of the event. Check out the playlist here.

We were among the 5 finalists in the Globant Awards Women That Build 2020, which seeks to recognize women who manage innovation, collaboration and promote diversity and inclusion.

In addition to having been mentioned and participating in incredible initiatives such as UX NOW, UX LAB, Design Team, Nina Talks, Online UX Team, Empodera Tech, Ebac, Microsoft Reactor and Mentorama, and participated in countless events and virtual meetings about UX throughout the country.

Altogether, today, more than 30 thousand people follow the activities of Ladies That UX in Latin America.

This shows our commitment to improving female participation in the area of UX and technology, helping both people who are migrating or starting in the area, as well as those who need to develop in strategic and leadership positions.

We are very proud to be a welcoming and inclusive community, and everyone is welcome to contribute. Contact the leadership in your city to find out how you can participate. Our proposal is not only a network, but also (and in my view is where all the wealth is) to create bonds of friendship with people who share the same purpose, value and vision of the future.

For a less competitive and more collaborative world. Come, 2021!
