It’s November and although Santa’s workshop is already buzzing with Christmas plans, this we’re holding off the Christmas themes until at least Nov 24th, we promise.

Building on the focus of our last blog post of making our Dashboard incredible, we took a look with this update at how information comes to our users and how we can help discoverablity of our now 60+ cards. Our CTO Thom felt so strongly about it, our development discussion has been a torrent of late night screenshots & ideas for the past two weeks. We’re finally ready to reveal what we’ve been cooking just in time for the US Thanksgiving holidays and we hope this helps everyone find something to be thankful for on their Dashboard this year.

Notification System, Roll Out!

As you’ve probably picked up by now, we’re fans of collecting things into one easy to find location. Which is why, as of today, we’re putting Notifications and Alerts within one easy click.

With Notifications, we can now help communicate with our users directly within their dashboard rather than relying upon other channels so you can always stay up to date on what’s happening. Coming soon to the Alert Box near you will be:

  • New update to the site? You’ll get a fancy alert giving you the deets.
  • A Mod needs to know when a Broadcaster adds them? Mods will now get a notification of who has added you and when.
  • Layer One server issues? We’ll now be able to notify you directly on your dashboard of our status as we go so you can keep casting without fear.

The Details — For those of you who like the nitty gritty:

  • Alerts will remain in your Notification box with a time stamp until deleted in case you need to come back to something later
  • Notification icon will include the number of unread notifications
  • Release notes will provide links to our posts here on Medium so you can always come back to it and read up on changes

We’re rolling out notifications slowly so be on the look out for these and more notification types coming out soon and if there’s something you’d like to see coming across, don’t hesitate to reach out in our fancy Feature Request center!

But wait, there’s more!

We all like points. So we thought, how can we make it easier for Broadcasters to see how close they and their communities are to unlocking a new emote level?

We give you, our Sub Points Card:

Add the Sub Card to your dashboard and quickly see the following:

  • Current Sub count & breakdown by sub tier
  • Current Score and how many points need to the next level
  • Next Emote Unlock and Next Total Score once unlocked
The world is your color oyster

But wait, there’s even more! Cus that wasn’t cool enough, you can customize the color breakdown of the graph to match your brand or whim.

The Sub Point card is our latest effort to help you get the data you need at your fingertips so keep letting us know what other card ideas you have!

Quality of Life General Updates

Adding on to these to major updates are an assortment of general updates to help make adding cards to your Dashboard easier than ever.

So fresh, so clean
  • Search is now labeled for your hunting needs
  • Suggested Cards are now feeling a little more polished
  • Top bar navigation is now labeled to help you know what you’re getting yourself into
  • New messages upon loading with additional tips
  • Saving to your dashboard will now give you a progress bar at the bottom to keep you safe

Whew, that was a lot. We’ve got one more update planned for this weekend and more planned for December so stay tuned and as always, hit us up on Discord and Twitter for your holiday wish lists!

Cheers,

The Layer One Team
