LGBT+ People and Health

From the beginning of this year, we’ve talked about LGBT+ people and asylum, sports, history and homelessness. We now want to ask…what does health mean to you?

This month we are reflecting on mental, sexual and physical health within the LGBT+ community as this is a very important topic that’s not always talked about. We’ll use the orange colour, which symbolises Healing, to take a look at some data and raise awareness about this topic. If you want to engage in the conversation, you can tell us what does health mean to you using the #ShineBrightInColour hashtag.

Leicester LGBT Centre on BBC East Midlands Today

As part of our campaign around LGBT+ people and Health, the BBC East Midlands Today team did a special series exploring why members of the LGBT+ community are more likely to suffer from mental health problems. If you want to support our work, you can do so by clicking here.
